Truex grabs second straight Sonoma victory

Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 19 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, celebrates his victory after capturing his fourth win of the season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday.

NASCAR’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) took on Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA.

In convincing fashion, Martin Truex Jr. drove to victory in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) event on Sunday, June 23 at Sonoma, leading 59 laps of the 90-lap event. The win was his fourth of the season and second straight at the road course (third overall).

Truex was able to hold off second-place finisher and Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch by 1.861 seconds at the line.

Finishing third was Ryan Blaney, with Matt DiBenedetto in fourth (a career-best) and Stage 2 winner Denny Hamlin in fifth.

The rest of the top 10 included Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Erik Jones, Aric Almirola, and pole sitter Kyle Larson.

Truex, Busch, Hamlin, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and Chase Elliott have clinched spots in the MENCS Playoffs with wins this season.

MENCS will compete at Chicagoland Speedway, Sunday, June 30 at 2 p.m. (CDT). NBCSN will televise the event. MRN and SiriusXM will provide radio coverage.

NASCAR Xfinity Series is returning to action at Chicagoland Speedway, Saturday, June 29 at 2:30 p.m. (CDT). NBCSN will televise the race, while MRN and SiriusXM will provide radio coverage.

Gander Truck Series will also compete at Chicagoland Speedway on Friday, June 28 at 8 p.m. (CDT). FOX Sports 1 will televise the event, while MRN and SiriusXM will provide radio coverage.

NASCAR action returns to Talladega Superspeedway, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, for its doubleheader NASCAR Playoff weekend, October 11-13. The Sugarlands Shine 250 for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will kick off the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12.
