Livingston Academy’s Spirit of the Wildcats Band is prepared for the fall season.

The band contains more than 30 members this year. The group recently attended band camp working on their sound and marching to prepare them for the upcoming season. They are excited to share what they have learned.

Band Director Greg Dingwall stated, “I believe this group will do amazing things this year as they continue to work on and practice the show.

“The goal or goals for this season is for everyone to do their best and grow as a musician and a marcher because this is very new for about one third of the band.

“The other part of the goal is to have fun and enjoy what hard work can produce and the look of understanding on the audience’s face when the show is completed,” Dingwall stated.

The theme for this season is based on Edgar Allen Poe’s poem “The Raven”.

“The mood of the show is kind of dark and dreary with thoughts of hope somewhat distant from the reality of the poem,” Dingwall shared.

The band currently has plans for one exhibition and three competitions for this fall. The musical team would appreciate any support from the community in getting assistance financing these trips as that will depend on how many they can attend.

Leading the band this season will be senior Emma Coil as 1st/2nd for the clarinets and Drum Major as well as Band Captain senior Ethan Stover as 1st for the alto sax section.

The band’s first exhibition is at Upperman High School on Saturday, Aug. 28.

The band looks forward to a somewhat return to normalcy for the season.

Dingwall said, “The band students and I are very much looking forward to an exciting year and hope you all will join us.”
