As it turned out, last week proved to be only a half week for the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats soccer team. Two games were scheduled but only one was played.
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Lady Wildcats traveled to powerful Cookeville and came away with a fine 1-1 tie. Some outstanding defensive play by Malyne Copeland, Maylee Bilbrey, and Analese Milligan kept the Lady Cavaliers away from the Livingston goal.
Katlin Huntley scored the only Livingston point with an assist from Jena Harris while goalie Tori Hinds rejected 19 kicks on goal by the home team.
On Thursday, the Lady Cats were scheduled to travel to Sparta to take on White County, but several COVID-19 positive tests postponed that match.
“Our match with Cookeville was very good for us,” LA coach David Sadler II explained. “Anytime you tie Cookeville in anything, it’s like a win. Our kids did quite well in that match and are showing a lot of improvement in every match.”
This week, Livingston Academy will host DeKalb County on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. and will be open on the Thursday. Next week, LA will welcome Cumberland County on Monday then will be on the road at Baxter, on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Stone Memorial on Thursday, Oct. 1, and finish out the regular season on the road at Cumberland County on Thursday, Oct. 8.
District playoffs will run October 12-16, the regional tournament is October 19-23, and the sectionals will be on October 24.
