Livingston Academy Golf has had a very busy week, playing three different times.

Livingston Academy’s boys team began their week by playing in a match against Stone Memorial at Bear Trace on Monday, Aug. 23. Bryson Fletcher led with a 79. Hayden Ledbetter finished with 83, Teddy Tudhope 95, and Tayshawn Hayes 97. The boys lost to Stone but gained experience to help them improve later in the week when they faced off at Bear Trace again.

Coach Buddy Sells shared, “I think it really helped them out knowing what clubs to hit, where and when not to hit driver, just to keep the ball in play.”

LA’s boys team also played on Wednesday, Aug. 25 in the Golf Capital Classic at Bear Trace. Bryson Fletcher once again led his team with a score of 74. Fletcher finished third as an individual. He also shot a 400 par 32 on the front 9.

“That’s one of the best scores that I can remember in as many years as I’ve coached and even whenever I played. That’s a remarkable feat to shoot that well,” Coach Sells proudly stated.

Hayden Ledbetter followed close behind with a 78. Teddy Tudhope finished with a score of 90, and Dawson Ledbetter 95. The boys total score was 337. They beat White (381), Cumberland (385), and Rhea (395).

LA’s girls team participated in the UC Girls Invitational on Thursday, Aug. 26 at Lake Tansi against Cumberland County, Cookeville, and a single participant from Warren County. Cora Duke led the team with an 85, finishing third out of all the girls participating. Her teammates followed close behind, Halle Ledbetter 97 and Anna Marie Smith 100. The group was successful in beating Cumberland County and Warren County.

“That was good practice for the district tournament coming up. Them getting the extra rep on the course will hopefully benefit them the way it did the boys for the Golf Capital Classic,” Coach Sells said.

Both of LA’s teams will face off on Thursday, Sept. 2 against McMinnville at Hidden Valley Golf Course.
