Jr. Wildcats football team is continuing their undefeated season after winning their third game, making them 3-0. The team played Algood Middle School at Algood on Thursday, Aug. 19, winning 30-6. The team is showing their strengths this season both offensively and defensively.

Offensively, Kaden Weitzel ran the ball, leading him to score a touchdown. Jackson Boles and Brody Walker made several strong runs. Rocco Carwile caught a deep ball and was able to score a touchdown catch from quarterback Adrien Jenkins in the second quarter. Defensively, lineman Matthew Slayton played well helping his team. Kaden Weitzel completed his third interception of the season.

The game started out very close and remained that way through halftime.

The Jr. Wildcats stretched their lead as the second quarter began. This game did not feature any big runs as the team previously completed in the last two games. The team had many drives.

Head coach Kevin Coffee stated, “I don’t think it was our best effort of the season. I think it got our kids’ attention that they’re going to have to work harder.”

The team will play Fentress County Thursday, Aug. 26 at York. Both teams are undefeated and this will be for the lead of the east division.

Coffee said, “It will be a big game. The crowd was big at Algood this week, so I’d like to see an even bigger crowd at York to come out and support these boys.”
