Mary Rachel Gean of Monroe, was recently granted the Margaret Jerome Sampson Scholarship by Phi Upsilon Omicron Educational Foundation.
Phi Upsilon Omicron is a national honor society recognizing and encouraging achieved excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service for students of family and consumer sciences.
Gean is majoring in Food and Nutrition/ Dietetics at University of Tennessee at Martin where she is a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron chapter.
Foundation Chair Cindy Jones said, “It is indeed a pleasure to recognize this year’s scholarship, fellowship, and award winners. Those receiving this recognition truly represent excellence in our profession and promise of greater service.”
Phi Upsilon Omicron is the oldest national Family and Consumer Sciences Honor Society and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. Phi Upsilon Omicron has 52 collegiate chapters, 19 alumni chapters, and more than 100,000 members living throughout the United States and around the world carrying out the mission of family and consumer sciences and the honor society.
