William Roy “Pa Roy” Jackson

William Roy “Pa Roy” Jackson

Funeral services for Mr. William Roy Jackson, better know to most as “Pa Roy,” 87, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from Holly Springs Church of Christ with Brother Bobby Gore and Brother Bruce Mullinix officiating. Burial followed in Holly Springs Cemetery.

Pa Roy saw the face of Jesus August 9, 2021.

Roy was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet. He was born into a poor family and lost his mom at the age of 4 to tuberculosis. He had an 8th grade education.

He married the love of his life, Birdie, when he was 19 and Granny was 16. They grew up together and raised their two girls. Pa Roy worked in furniture manufacturing until he retired and became granny’s sidekick on the farm.

He served his Lord and Savior faithfully for decades. He loved the Lord, Granny, and his family with all he had. They were married for 67 years. He and Granny had a bond that many today could never dream of. However, Pa knew who was the boss, and it was not him.

He instilled working hard to his girls, both in school, in basketball, and in life. He instilled the Love of Christ that will bloom for generations to come.

Born July 30, 1934, he was the son of the late R.D. Jackson and Beulah Walker Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Pa was preceded in death by his step mother, Lois; a brother, Kenneth (wife Lois); and two sisters, Wilma Dean Holman (husband John Riley) and Wanda Sevier (husband Arvil).

He leaves behind his devoted sidekick, Birdie Gore Jackson; two daughters, Kathy Sullivan (husband, Mike) and Billie Rooker (husband, Tommy); five grandchildren, Rebecca Case (husband, Robert), Stephanie Cowan (husband, Tim), Bryan Rooker (wife, Brittany), Matthew Rooker (wife, Brittany), and Tyler Sullivan (fiancee, Anna); eight great grandchildren Jackson, Thomas, and William Case, Connor and Carter Cowan, Savannah Rooker, and Jaxson and Addison Sullivan and their bonus brother Branson; and three special nieces, Gail Gore, Janie Carter, and Judy Reagan.

Pallbearers were Bryan and Matthew Rooker, Tyler Sullivan, Robert, Jackson, Thomas, and William Case, and Tim Cowan.

Honorary pallbearers were Connor and Carter Cowan, Savannah Rooker, Jaxson and Addison Sullivan, and Branson Miller and Pa’s “other son” John Stephens.

Our family would like to thank the countless nurses and physicians who have taken care of Pa the last few years. We thank our community for your prayers, calls, and visits.
