Ronnie Matthews

Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie Matthews, 75, of Crawford, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021, from Caney Fork Baptist Church in Cookeville, where he was an active member, with Bro. Steve Thornton officiating. Interment followed in Honey Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Matthews passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at his home.

Born October 9, 1946, in Monterey, he was the son of the late William “Bud” and Lula Vaughn Matthews.

Ronnie was a humble man of strong character who showed kindness, generosity, and the love of God to all those he encountered by sharing his testimony.

He enjoyed fishing, walking the meadows of his fields, and sharing sunsets with his wife.

Ronnie’s greatest treasure was his family and friends. Anyone who knew him, knew the joy, light, and love that radiated from within thru his infectious smile. He will be dearly missed as he loyally served his family as their beloved patriarch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julie and Joe Harris; and a sister-in-law, Diana Matthews.

He left behind his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Harris Matthews of Crawford; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonia and Scott Wilson of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Amanda Matthews of Bowling Green, KY; three grandchildren, Abby (and Jesse) Thornton of Cookeville, Ben Matthews and Anderson “Bug” Matthews, both of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Harold Miller of Hanging Limb and Sherry and Mike Tabors of Monterey; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donnie and Donna Matthews of Mt. Juliet and Johnnie Matthews of Cookeville.
