Betty Ruth Norrod Looper

Funeral services for Ms. Betty Ruth Norrod Looper, 86, of Monterey, were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Pastor of Music and Worship, Daniel Tribble officiating. Interment followed in Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Looper passed away in the wee morning hours Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her home with her children and grandchildren at her side.

Ms. Looper was retired from Post Cereal in Battle Creek, MI, with 42 years service. She was a school teacher at Flat Rock School in the Sunk Cane Community of Overton County. She was Protestant in faith. She was baptized at Old Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hanging Limb and attended Antioch Baptist Church in Michigan.

Born May 9, 1935, in Norrod Hollow of Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Roscoe and Ruba Mae Key Norrod.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Andrew Jackson “Junior” Looper Jr.; seven brothers, a sister, and an infant sibling, Arthur Roscoe Norrod Jr., Ezra Kenneth Norrod, Dayron Clifford Norrod, Evalyn Rhea Norrod, Joyce Willard Norrod, J.B. Norrod, Gene Norrod, and Arthur D. Norrod.

She is survived by a daughter, Jamie Ford of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Lillian Looper of the Crossroads Community of Overton County; four grandchildren, Amanda (Shannon) Ellis, Andy Looper, and Audrey (Stacy) Thompson, all of Monterey, and Savannah (Daniel) Tribble of Lebanon; 10 great grandchildren, Weston Breedlove, Grayson Breedlove, Axton Ellis, Kristina Ellis, Brenna Allred, Michael Allred, Jackson Allred, Esme’ Thompson, Tyler Thompson, and Darcie Looper; a great-great grandchild, Elaina Murphy; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Norrod of St. Clair Shores, MI.
