A shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning is under review by the District Attorney’s Office.
According to a release from Livingston Police Chief Greg Etheredge, LPD officers along with fire and EMS personnel responded to a call of a shooting incident at the residence of Robert Richardson at 292 Fairview Lane in Livingston at approximately 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.
“Upon their arrival, officers found that a Chris Melton had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds,” the release states.
Melton was treated at the scene and ultimately transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital for treatment.
Based on LPD’s investigation, “it appears that Mr. Melton came to the residence to start an altercation with the homeowner, Mr. Richardson,” Chief Etheredge stated. “During that altercation, Mr. Melton was shot by Mr. Richardson.”
The case is still under investigation by LPD detectives for review by the District Attorney’s Office.
