The Standing Stone Historical Society (SSHS) will celebrate Monterey’s heritage once again this year as they host the 40th annual Standing Stone Day celebration, Saturday, Oct. 12.
Arts, crafts, food vendors, and a flea market will be set up at Whittaker Park starting at 8 a.m.
Activities will get underway with a parade down Commercial Ave. at 10 a.m., followed by the Standing Stone Day Ceremony at Standing Stone Monument Park (next to Monterey Branch Library). Other planned activities include native dancers, musicians, speakers, and activities representing the native cultures of several nations directly after the ceremony until 3 p.m.
