Livingston Academy Band traveled to Prescott South Middle School in Cookeville to compete in the Upper Cumberland Concert Festival on Saturday, March 4.
LA Band performed two selections for the judges. Judges rate the performance on a scale of a Good – III, Excellent – II, Superior – I. After their performance, the judges came down and talked with the students, sharing some comments about their performance and giving positive feedback. The judges let the students know how well they did and how impressed they were with their performance.
“After the band ate lunch, we were notified that our results were in,” LA Band Director Greg Dingwall stated. “As I approached the table, the excitement began to rise- up, and when I saw the trophy and the one word that stuck out, SUPERIOR. That’s the best we could do.
“I then took time to look at the judges’ sheets and the scores in the different categories we are evaluated in were all ones. That was amazing. The band has never done this well before, “ he said.
“We still have some things to work on to be even better, but for now, this was a job well done. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the festival this weekend.”
