Overton County deputies responded to a shooting Thursday, Oct. 31 on Cleo Johnson Road in East Clay County, however, Overton County Sheriff John Garrett advised that since the incident occured in Clay County they were the ones to write up the official report.
According to Clay County Sheriff Brandon Boone, an impaired Andrew Maxfield was shot by his father, Dale Maxfield, after being asked by his parents multiple times to leave the property.
Boone said, “Andy was being aggressive to his parents on the porch, and after asking him to leave multiple times, his father shot him in the upper leg.”
Andrew was transported to Livingston Regional Hospital for treatment, where the Clay County deputies left him as the parents chose to not file any charges at the time of the incident, Boone added.
