Christmas in the Country begins this Friday

Christmas in the Country, a 3-week event, will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 26, Friday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 10. Santa will travel up Main Street to the square around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26. A tree lighting ceremony will follow at 6 p.m., and a performance by local dance students will follow. Overton County Merchants Association is planning many special events to take place around the square. Along with shopping and giveaways from local merchants, guests may partake of seasonal refreshments and local wagons will be offering rides around the square and side streets. Santa Claus will be available with a bring-your-own-camera set up in the Court House. Christmas music will also be featured.

New this year will be a carousel on site December 3, and a mini Ferris Wheel will be on site December 10.
