Detectives with Overton County Sheriff’s Department executed several “Sale and Delivery” drug indictments over the last week, which had been handed down by Overton County Grand Jury.

The indictments and arrests were the result of extensive undercover operations between Overton County Sheriff’s Department, 13th Judicial District Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, TBI/HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Drug Task Force, and Office of the Inspector General.

Along with other individuals who have yet to be picked up by law enforcement, the individuals who were arrested and charged are as follows:

•Mercedes Lynn King – (1 count) Sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance and (1 count) Delivery of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

•Melanie Evonne Jackson – (2 counts) Sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance, (2 counts) Delivery of Schedule II Controlled Substance, TennCare Fraud.

•Brandi Lee Pressler – (1 count) Sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance and (1 count) Delivery of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

•Joy Carol White – (2 counts) Sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance and (2 counts) Delivery of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

•Karen M. Potter – (1 count) Sale of Schedule III Controlled Substance and (1 count) Delivery of Schedule III Controlled Substance.

•Michele Lee Smith – (3 counts) Theft over $2,500, (3 counts) Theft under $1,000, and (12 counts) Fraudulent use of a Debit Card.

Overton County Sheriff John Garrett stated, “Overton County Sheriff’s Department will continue to actively pursue anyone involved in the illegal use, sale or distribution of illegal narcotics.”
