National Cornbread

Cook-off Finalist from OC 4H

Willow Wright, a 4th grade 4-Her at A.H. Roberts Elementary, was recently named a top 10 national finalist in the National Cornbread Cookoff for her “Southwest Cornbread” recipe.

Each year, ten 4-H members from across the nation are selected based on their cornbread recipe submissions. Out of those submissions, ten finalists are announced.

They then travel to South Pittsburg, TN to compete at the festival that draws over 27,000 visitors each year.

They prepare their recipe on site where the first-place winner receives a $500 cash prize. This year’s on-site competition had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 virus, however Willow will receive a gift card from the national committee to recognize her achievement.

“Willow is a dedicated 4-Her and has been eager to participate in all of our 4-H contests this year. It’s so exciting to see her rewarded on a national level for her hard work,” said Angie Boone, 4-H Program Assistant.
