Overton not first to sue opioid suppliers

Prescription opioid abuse is a huge problem for Overton County, according to Overton County Sheriff’s Department. Now the county’s government is seeking legal representation so it can sue the makers and distributors of opioids in an effort to recoup some of the costs of dealing with an opioid addiction epidemic – a move several counties and even entire states have made recently.

Commission votes to sue opioid companies, hears audit report

Overton County Commission voted Monday, April 9 to join in suing opioid manufacturers.

During Monday’s regular monthly meeting, Resolution #2018-0409-04 was adopted to give the county executive authority to enter into a contract to fight against the opioid crisis.
