Avo Carrie (Carr) Cantrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Avo Carrie (Carr) Cantrell, 93, of Anderson, IN and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home, with Bro. Bennie Sells officiating.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Cantrell died Wednesday, January 26, at her home. She married Cleo Clayton Cantrell on January 11, 1934 and they spent 38 happy years together until his passing on November 14, 1972. Avo and Clayton moved from Tennessee to Anderson, IN in March, 1953 where they lived with their two children, Reba and Earl. Avo’s hobbies were sewing, making quilts, playing, and singing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved and enjoyed them all. She enjoyed going to church as long as she could walk around.

Born October 31, 1917 in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Lee Carr. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Reba (Cantrell) Edwards; 5 brothers, Carver D. Carr, Woodrow Carr, Monroe Carr, Robert Gentry Carr, and Edward Donald Carr; and 4 sisters, Laura Arline, Bessie Ramsey, Dorothy Ashbey, and Zola Norrod.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Veachel (Ledbetter) Cantrell; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Johnny Edwards, Donnie Akins, Kyle Allmond, Tony Cantrell, Gary Ledbetter, and David Reynolds.

Elsie E. (Ferrell) Collins
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie E. (Ferrell) Collins, 88, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, with Rev. Damon Corley officiating.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Collins died Wednesday, February 2, at Overton County Nursing Home. She had worked at Ideal Laundry for 30 years and was a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born October 19, 1922 in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Eliza (Andrews) Ferrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Elmo Collins; and 2 brothers, Finis Ferrell and Finley Ferrell.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Durell Maynord of Allons; a grandson, Doug Maynord of Allons; a granddaughter, Melanie Williams and her husband, Mitch, of Bowling Green, KY; and 3 great-grandchildren, Walker Zane Williams, Dustin Williams, and Houston McMeans.

Pallbearers were Houston McMeans, Doug Maynord, Mitch Williams, Walker Williams, Chuckie Bumbalough, John Sackman, and Edwin Garrett.

Norma June (Garrett) Loftis
Funeral services for Mrs. Norma June (Garrett) Loftis, 67, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Damon Corley officiating.

Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery.

Mrs. Loftis died Monday, January 31 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She had worked in the cafeteria at Overton County Nursing Home and was of the Baptist faith.

Born August 15, 1943 in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late R.D. and Pelma (Johnson) Garrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Onia Beechboard; and 2 brothers, Clurel Garrett and J.L. Garrett.

Survivors include a sister, Virginia Dodson of Livingston; a sister-in-law, Betty Garrett of Allons; a brother-in-law, Junior Beechboard of Allons; 4 nephews, Tim Dodson, Richard Garrett, Ronnie Garrett, and Raymond Garrett; and a niece, Susie Misenhimer.

Pallbearers were Allen Shelton, Jim Gazaway, Bruce Seber, Roy Lee Seber, Ronnie Garrett, and Richard Garrett.

Johnny Ray Smith, Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Ray Smith, Sr., 62, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Parsons officiating.

Burial was in Old Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Monday, January 31, at his home.

Born May 28, 1948 in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Homer C. and Silvia (Patterson) Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Florene Smith of Livingston; a son, Johnny Ray Smith, Jr. of Celina; a brother, Jerry Smith of Livingston; a sister, Ruth Coffee of Eubank, KY; and 3 grandsons, Jonathan Smith, Brandon Smith, and Justin Smith.

Pallbearers were Johnny Smith, Jr., Jonathan Smith, Brandon Smith, Justin Smith, and Jerry Smith.

Charles L. Taylor
Memorial services for Mr. Charles L. Taylor, 65, of Livingston, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 from First Christian Church in Livington, with Rev. Dee Wells and Rev. Sunny Ridings officiating.

Mr. Taylor died Sunday, February 6, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and member of First Christian Church.

Born September 5, 1945 in Painesville, OH, he was the son of the late William Joel and Katherine (Marsh) Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gloria Taylor, Betty Richmond, and Kaye Rosipko; and 2 brothers, Robert Taylor and Jackie Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Taylor of Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. and Tara Taylor of Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Taylor) and Randy Kinsey of Livingston; 6 brothers, William Taylor and Wayne Taylor, both of Florida, Richard Taylor, Douglas Taylor, and James Taylor, all of Ohio, and Larry Taylor of Michigan; 2 sisters, Marty Watson of Ohio and Peggy Anderson of Florida; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Larry and Ruth Anderson.
