A Brief Review of 1956 in Overton and Pickett Counties

Mr. and Mrs. James Owens have moved to Milton Stockton’s farm.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Sidnie Copeland have returned home after visiting their daughters near Cookeville.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Earley Web of near Pleasant Ridge visited Mr. and Mrs. Harvey England recently.
 
The singing in Okalona was extra good. A large crowd attended.
 
Mrs. Herman Qualls and son Henry of Cookeville visited Mrs. Alice Qualls Sunday.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Corbet Poston have moved to Mrs. Johnie Poston’s farm.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Delroy Ray of Indiana have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harve England.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Evans and family have moved back to their home in Okalona. They have been working in East Tennessee.
 
Mrs. Milton Stockton visited her sister Mrs. Stanton Dillon at Algood. Mrs. J.B. Eldridge and son accompanied Mrs. Stockton.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Will Presley attended church Sunday at Harris Chapel.
 
Mrs. Rosie Thompson remains seriously ill at the General Hospital in Nashville.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Billie Stockton and children visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stockton, recently.

Mrs. Norman Phillips was off from work last week a few days due to illness. She has gone back to work.
 
Sunday School is progressing nicely at Smyrna Church with preaching each first Sunday by Rev. Baxter Smith of Livingston, each second Sunday by Rev. Tom Cummings of Byrdstown, and each fourth Sunday by Rev. Frank Turnbull of Alpine. Everyone is welcome to come to Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. and Morning Worship at 11:00 a.m.
 
Mrs. Austin Jones has been off a few days because of illness.

Joe Ledbetter and Bob Hunter visited Odus Staggs Sunday afternoon.
 
Richard Mitchell has been very sick, but is some better.
 
Mrs. J.T. Lansden visited Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Webb Sunday afternoon.
 
C.A. Verble has not been well.
 
Rickie, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. James Copeland, was hurt in a fall.
 
Mrs. Earnest Franklin, Mrs. Arlen King, Mrs. Velvo Story and Faye visited the Harris Ringley family at Alpine Sunday.
 
Mrs. Marchie Wright Spent the weekend in Nashville visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Wright.
