ABrief Review of 1956 in Overton and Pickett Counties

Walter Staggs is off the sick list.
 
A wedding of much interest was that of Charles Seber and Charlene Holman. They will make their home in Detroit, Michigan, where Charles is employed.
 
Virginia Sells spent Saturday night with her sister, Mrs. Illard Hunter.
 
Mrs. O.V. Apolios of Gamaliel, Kentucky visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ledbetter, Sunday.
 
Mr. and Mrs. James Davis of Indiana visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Staggs, over the weekend.
 
Addison Maynard is better.
 
Edgar Savage visited his brother, Walter Savage, over the weekend.
 
Louis Hood is ill.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Glenmore Ledbetter are proud parents of a baby boy named Gary William.
 
Willie D. Holman is home on leave from the U.S. Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Holman.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Luke Peterman visited Mr. and Mrs. Addison Maynard Friday night.
 
Barbara Heady is ill.
 
T.L. Chilton, Bulas Maynard and son, Harold, visited I. B. Hunter Sunday afternoon.
 
Willadean Maynard spent Sunday with Wanda Ledbetter.
 
The Red Cross Fund Campaign meeting closed last week with a presentation of a recording by Captain Buck of Armathwaite. He praised the work done in his behalf by the Red Cross during and following his imprisonment by the Communist Chinese. Attending from Overton and Pickett counties were Mr. and Mrs. Curtis L. Holt of Byrdstown, Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter Smith of Livingston. John Alex Mitchell of Radio Station WHUB interviewed a number of attendees, including Mr. Smith.

Ray and wife to L.H. Ray, one acre in the 12th District; Johnie Fletcher and wife to E.T. Stover and wife, four acres in the 7th District; Robert C. Farmer and wife to Burton Haney and wife, ¾ acre in Livingston, Howard K. Parsons and wife to Henry Auberson, one lot in Livingston, Robert D. Lee to Cecil Stockton and wife, 30 acres in the 6th District.
 
Pickett County Real Estate Transfers: Hobart Taylor and wife to Nobey Copley and others, one lot in Byrdstown; Hobart Taylor and wife to Edgar Weaver and others, one lot in Byrdstown; Carlos Cummings to Harley Bostic, 20 acres in the 5th district.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Arney and children visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Jouett of Oakley on Sunday.
 
Ray Mullins of Rockwood was in Alpine Saturday.
 
Willard Sells of Battle Creek, Michigan is home due to the illness of his father, Jim Sells.
