ABrief Review of 1956 in Overton and Pickett Counties

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Story aren’t so well this week.
Miss Nova Holt spent the weekend with her father and Mrs. Holt.
Roscoe Tompkins is in a Nashville hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady Reagan of Indiana are in Byrdstown visiting their parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Amonett and children spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Foster Neal, in Muncie, Ind. Billy Randall Smith accompanied them as far as New Castle, Ind. to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Smith.
Keith Pierce has moved into the Norman Reagan home in Bloomington.
John Holt is able to be out after being confined to his room for several days.
Bedford Thompson has moved to his home at the Y.
Mr. Cross has moved into the Odell Sells home.
Byrdstown Women’s Club Poetry Contest Division 3: MY LITTLE PUPPY: I had a little puppy/Who never made a fuss/She was always waiting/When I got off the bus/One day when I failed to ride the bus/She was so upset/She followed the bus/Until she had to stop and rest/A man came down the road/And saw my puppy there/He picked her up/And put her in his car/He gave her to his girl friend who lived in Moodyville/My puppy couldn’t find her home/That she had left at the foot of the hill/About six months later/I found where my puppy had gone/I went as quickly as I could/And brought my puppy home. Wilce West visited in Cookeville Saturday and was guest at a birthday dinner given in honor of his aunt, Mrs. Hascel Harp.
Donald Ray Bilbrey, who attends Martin College, spent the weekend at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Swallows and Mrs. Mayme Davis were shopping in Nashville Tuesday.
Nova Norrod, Fayette Norrod, Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Norrod and daughter of Monroe spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Norrod and children.
Mrs. Mabel Sherill of Route 2 Livingston is reported improving after surgery at Middle Tennessee State Hospital.
Baxter Smith is in Berea, Ky. attending a meeting.
Belle Brown has returned to Crossville. Her address is C-o Dee Gunnels, Route 3, Crossville.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred White and children visited Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Verble in Algood Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Stephens and children spent Saturday in Nashville.
Mr. and Mrs. James Clark Jr. of Clarksville spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Speck of Rickman.
Mrs. Floyd Huddleston is a patient at Lady Ann Hospital.
