George Lee, 65, passed away Saturday morning, February 11, at his home in Bradenton, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 17, at Byrdstown with burial there. A long-time resident of Overton County, Mr. Lee resided in Florida some 30 years. His only living sister is Lizzie Lee of Livingston. Mr. Lee practiced law in Livingston and was County Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stonecipher and daughter visited relatives this weekend.

Recent rains raised Dale Hollow Lake from a record low to almost normal depth. With rains came reports of fine catches around Willow Grove and Mitchell Creek. Jim Cicolino at Willow Creek Dock reports Buster Winton caught three bass in the six-pound class and six others almost as large. Winton used his polar bear hair lure. He also landed a 10 ½ pound walleye. George Brown of Allons and Hubert Patterson of Livingston weighed in their Mitchell Creek 45-pound catch. One largemouth weighed 10 pounds. Both used spinning rigs.
 
Independence School patrol boys are vacationing from a job well done. For one week they will be replaced by girls: Ruby Dean Taylor, Jo Ann Dial, Janie Kennedy, Jaunita Bilbrey, Winnie Ann Conner, Betty Lou Dennis, Anna Sue Carter.
 
Paul Booker, Charles Jolly and Jimmy Lee Amonett of T.P.I. spent the weekend with their parents in Byrdstown.
 
Gib Ford moved from Odell Sells’ home over to Everett Haskell’s farm.
 
Margaret Clark is on the sick list.

Mrs. Tom Amonett is recovering from her trip to the dentist.
 
Dalton Reagan bought land from John Holt and is building a home on it. The community of Byrdstown Route 1 welcomes him.
