1956 In Overton And Pickett Counties

Allen Gore, 86, father of U.S. Senator Albert Gore, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Carthage next door to the home of the senator, who flew home from Washington Friday night when his father developed pneumonia. Mr. Gore is survived by his widow, Margie Denny Gore; sons, Senator Gore and Reggie Gore of Carthage; daughters, Mrs. Alfred Marks, Elmwood; Mrs. Haskell Gentry, Nashville; Mrs. Leon Keys, Oklahoma City; brother, Charles C. Gore, Livingston; sisters, Mrs. Mollie Bennett, Elmwood; Mrs. Betty White, Taylorsville; Mrs. Maggie Law, San Francisco; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery in Carthage.

D.R. Todd, 86, celebrated his birthday Sunday. Mr. Todd has 9 children, 49 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. About 130 friend and relatives enjoyed the festivities.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Flem Garrett of Pickett County are proud parents of a girl born March 1.
