Buzachero earns 2 saves for 51s
Edward Dale “Bubbie” Buzachero, of Livingston, earned 2 saves and lowered his earned run average to 2.70 in 5 games for the Las Vegas 51s recently.

His first mound time of the week came in a game at Fresno on Tuesday, July 7 when he was brought in to replace Bill Murphy with the game tied at 6-6 with one out and the bases loaded.

A wild pitch with Matt Downs batting allowed Ryan Rohlinger to score, John Bowker to move over to third, and Jesus Guzman to move to second. Downs hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Bowker, and Guzman moved to 3rd. A passed ball with Joe Borchard batting allowed Guzman to score. Borchard then popped out to third baseman Kevin Howard in foul territory for the last out. Buzachero threw 10 pitches, 7 for strikes, in the 6-9 loss.

Buzachero earned his first save of the season at Reno on Wednesday, July 8 when he was brought in with a 3-run lead at 12-9 in the bottom of the 10th inning.

He induced a ground out to third baseman Howard, who threw to first baseman Howie Clark for the first out. Chris Roberson struck out, then Agustin Murillo grounded out to shortstop Angel Sanchez who threw to first for the final out of the 1-2-3 inning.

He threw 13 pitches, 10 for strikes.

Buzachero earned his second save with another 10th inning performance, this time to preserve a 5-4 Las Vegas victory at Reno the following day.

He struck out Chris Roberson for the first out, then induced a ground out to short for the second out. Pinch hitter Brandon Allen beat out a soft ground ball to second, then pinch hitter Ruben Gotay flied out to left fielder Aaron Mathews for the final out.

Buzachero threw 11 pitches to 4 batters, 8 for strikes.

He was brought in to stop the bleeding in the 8th inning with the score 4-9 game at Reno on Saturday, July 11. Buzachero induced Abraham O. Nunez to ground out to first baseman Clark for the first out of the inning, the Brandon Watson grounded out to Clark, who threw to Buzachero for the second out. Trent Oeltjen lined out to left fielder Travis Snider for the third out.

The 51s scored a run in the 9th, but lost 5-9. Buzachero threw 12 pitches to 3 batters, 7 for strikes.

He came in with a 5-run lead in the 9th inning at Reno the following day after Bill Murphy walked Brandon Allen and Josh Whitesell to start the inning. Buzachero struck out Rusty Ryal looking for the first out. Then Ruben Gotay hit a grounder back to Buzachero, who threw to shortstop Angel Sanchez who in turn stepped on second and threw to first baseman Randy Ruiz for a game-ending double-play.

Buzachero threw 8 pitches to 2 batters, 6 for strikes.

Woolbright wins TGA at Cookeville
Anthony Woolbright of Livingston took 1st place in the Boys 14-15 division of the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour Boys 14-15 Tournament held Wednesday, July 8 at Cookeville Golf Club. He shot a 78, 8 over par.

Brandon Burnette, also of Livingston, participated in the tournament and finished 12th.

Woolbright tied for 4th in a TGA tournament held June 29 at Whittle Springs Golf Course in Knoxville. He shot an 87, 17 over par.

In the TGA event at Cookeville on July 8, Livingston’s Sam Officer competed in the 10-13 tournament and tied for 5th, with a 45, 11 over par.

Officer tied for 8th in a TGA tournament at Two Rivers Golf Course in Nashville on Monday, July 13. He shot a 49, 13 over par.

Alyssa Farris of Livingston placed 8th in the Girls 8-11 Micro division in the TGA tournament held at The Wee Course at Wiliams Creek in Knoxville on Thursday, July 2. She shot a 68, 41 over par.

Tennessee Ladies win Cumberland tournament

Tennessee Ladies, a local AAU 9 and under girls basketball team won the Cumberland county tournament “King of the Mountain” on Saturday, July 11. Players are, front row from left, Caroline Huntley, Kellsey Ray, Alyssa Dixon, Madison Owens, back row, Jaci Baltimore, Myla Sells, Aspen Savage, Leah Parker, Sydney Story, and Coach Megan Burnett.
