Hunter’s students compete in Battle of Champions

Cooper, AB&T top league standings
Cooper Recycling and American Bank & Trust teams topped the final standings in Rookie and Minor League standings respectively.

Area golfers perform well in tournaments


The father and son duo of Paul and Wes Korth of Cookeville successfully defended their title June 14 in the 30th Annual TPGA Father-Son Championship at Fairfield Glade. The Korths were in third place after the first round and rallied to record the highest single-day point total to win by 6 points. The Korths won last year and also won in 2005.

Area golfers have performed well in recent tournaments.

Alyssa Farris of Livingston placed 5th in the Girls 8-11 Micro division in the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour Lewisburg Recreation Center Tournament held at Lewisburg/Marshall County Golf Course on Monday, June 8. She shot a 77, 41 over par.

She placed 3rd on Wednesday, June 10 in the TGA Junior Tour Dayton Golf and Country Club Tournament held in Evansville. She shot a 74, 39 over par.

Farris then won her division in the Creekside Plantation Golf Course tournament held Thursday, June 18 in Seymour. She shot a 76, 41 over par.

Anthony Woolbright of Livingston placed 6th in the Boys 14-15 division of the TGA Junior Tour Deer Creek Golf Course Tournament held Thursday, June 11 in Crossville. He shot a 106, 34 over par.

Ariel Carr of Alpine placed 3rd in the Girls 15-18 Masters division of the TGA Junior Tour Southern Hills Golf Course Tournament held Monday, June 15 in Cookeville. She shot a 91, 20 over par. She then shot an 86 and finished 5th in the TGA Junior Tour Champions Run Golf Course Tournament held Thursday, June 25.
In that tournament, Sam Officer of Livingston placed 13th in the Boys 10-13 division. He shot a 50, 16 over par.

Overton County Havoc tournament held


Overton County Havoc hosted a tournament on Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24. First place winners in the 13 and under division were the Crossville Panthers.


First place winners in the 12 and under division were the MP Fusion.


Runners up in the 13 and under division were the Upper Cumberland Suns.

Runners up in the 12 and under division were the UC Stars.

Hunter’s students compete in Battle of Champions


Hunter’s Karate students placed in 2009 Battle of Champions, a martial arts tournament held in Ringgold, GA. Participating were, from left, Instructor David Hunter, John Eldridge – 5th in sparring in 14-15 year brown tip division, Macy Savage – 1st in sparring and 2nd in forms in the 5-6 year blue belt division, Matt Eldridge – 1st in sparring in the men’s brown-tip division, and Instructor Jerry Pack.
