Middle school baseball tryouts set May 27, 28
Overton County Junior Wildcats baseball tryouts for the Spring 2010 season will be held Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the LA baseball field.

Tryouts are open to all players who will be in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the 2009-2010 school year. Glove, cap, and pants are required at tryouts. For rain out, listen to WLIV for cancellations and rescheduling.

Golf tournament raises funds for Hayes Foundation

The 7th Annual Hayes Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament was held Saturday, May 16 at White Plains Golf Course.

Donations of more than $15,935 were given to the foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the research and awareness of SIDS.

The first place winning team was made up of David Qualls, Zach Qualls, Luke Allen, and Matt Allen.

Second place winners were Donnie Greene, Don Allison, and Ryan Allison.

Third place winners were Cory Norrod, Matt Mitchell, Scott McCormick, and Gary Maxwell.

Fourth place winners were Bobby Taylor, Jeff Wilhite, Johnathon Wilhite, and Mike Reel.

Closest to the hole contests were won by the following:
Hole #6 – Mike Kuykendall.
Hole #11 –?Jerry Monday.
Hole #12 – Donnie Greene.
Hole #14 – Ryan Allison.
Hole #16 – Trevor Howard.

The foundation was started seven years ago by Kyra Oliver, daughter of Carson Oliver, of Livingston, and the late Vicki Oliver, after the passing of her son, Oliver Hayes Hitzeman, who died June 11, 2002, at the age of 5 months.
