J.B. Clark
Funeral services for Mr. J.B. Clark, 53, of Monterey, were conducted at noon on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from the chapel at Goff Funeral Home, with Rev. Anthony Wilson and Rev. Tony Phillips officiating.

Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Clark died Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a security guard working with Wells Fargo at one time.

Born June 20, 1955 in Monterey, he was the son of Horace and Allene (Phillips) Clark of the Anderson Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (Davis) Clark.

Survivors include, in addition to his parents, 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Vaden Phillips of Clarkrange, and Barbara and Richard Wilson of the Anderson Community; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Frances Clark of Monterey; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty Ruth (Nelson) Jennings
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Betty Ruth (Nelson) Jennings, 81, of Livingston, formerly of Roane County, TN, were conducted at noon on Saturday, March 29, 2009 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge, TN.

Mrs. Jennings died Monday, March 23, 2009 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She had been the owner of Jennings Department Store in Roane County.

Born November 27, 1927 in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Palmira Jane (Hall) Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Jennings, Jr.; 3 brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Robert Wayne Jennings of Kingston; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and David Cuneo of Murfreesboro, and Jan Hill of Livingston; a sister, Maggie Reynolds, Rock Island, NC; 4 grandchildren, Jeff Cuneo, Stephen Cuneo, Jake Jennings, and Whitney Hill; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Lozena (Garrison) Looper
Funeral services for Mrs. Lozena (Garrison) Looper, 74, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home, with Rev. Elmer McCowan officiating.

Burial was in the Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Looper died Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired textile factory worker.

Born November 24, 1934 in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Letcher and Mary (Pippin) Garrison.

Survivors include 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Joanna (Looper) Qualls of Charlotte; Judy and Joe Ray of Hull, TX; Sherrie and Jerry Qualls of Mayland; 4 sisters, Delma Randolph of Monterey, Maudean Ritchie of Byrdstown, Bernice Jenean Ridley of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Barbara Jewel Tidwell of Dayton, OH; a brother, Dennis Garrison of Dalton, GA; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Alvin “Junior” Mullins
Funeral services for Mr. Alvin “Junior” Mullins, 69, recently of the Masters Health Care Center in Algood, formerly a resident of Byrdstown, were conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from Brown Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Burial was in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Mullins died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. He had been a shiphand and was of the Baptist faith.

Born December 12, 1939 in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Emery Taylor and Donna Ophie (Cargile) Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia (Davis) Mullins; 2 daughters, Cheryl Mullins and Marie Mullins; a son, Gary Mullins; 2 sisters, Ruby Peek, and Lena Koger; 5 brothers, Johnny Mullins, Hoy Mullins, Cecil Mullins, Donald Mullins, and Odell Mullins.

Survivors include a son, Alvin Lee Mullins; a brother, Daniel Mullins; 5 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Peek, Brad Peek, Travis Peek, Alvin Lee Mullins, Frankie Mullins, and Billy Koger.

J. C. Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. J.C. Phillips, 41, of Lancaster, TN, were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, with Bro. Donald Bryant officiating.

Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Phillips died Monday, March 23, 2009 in Gladeville, TN. He was a carpenter in a siding installation company.

Born August 18, 1967 in Overton County, he was the son of Rubie (Boles) Phillips and the late John Clyde Phillips.

In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, John E. Phillips; a brother, Clinton Ray Phillips; 3 sisters, Tracey Jean Phillips, Eva Inez Mace, and Rebecca May Ogletree, all of Livingston; and his loving soul mate, Karen Anne Carter of Lancaster.

Pallbearers were Lester Goolsby, Danny Perdue , Roger Damron, Laymond Wendt, Calvin Boles, and David Winninham.

Jacqueline (Jolly) Winningham

Memorial services for Mrs. Jacqueline (Jolly) Winningham, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Livingston, with Dr. Lyle Anderson and Rev. Hillier Duke officiating.

Mrs. Winningham died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at her home. She was a retired school teacher, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a member of Hatcher Hall Christian Church.

Born October 26, 1935 in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Edd and Virgie (Keisling) Jolly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elise Gillman, and a brother, Dr. James Jolly.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Winningham of Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Betty Winningham of Cookeville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Inka and Jeff Herron of Kingsland, GA, and Lisa and Ron Huitt of Monroe; a brother, Larry Jolly of Livingston; a sister, Peggy Melton of Allons; and 11 grandchildren.
