Edna Clark
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna L. Clark, 90, of Hardy’s Chapel, were conducted at noon on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating.

Burial was at Tharp Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark died Monday, August 4 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 16, 1918 in Jackson County, TN, she was daughter to the late Kelly and Bertha (Bartlett) West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin Clark; a son, Boyd Clark; a sister, Irene Birdwell; a son-in-law, Jock Lemons; and a grandchild, Sherie Phillips.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Royce and wife Freda Clark of Cookeville; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Lemons of Cookeville, and Reta and husband Benny Davis of Hilham; a brother, Warren C. West of Union, OH; a special sister-in-law, Emogne Wright of Cookeville; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were friends and family members.

Rex Cole Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Rex Cole Jr., 79, of Allons, were conducted today, Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10 a.m., from the Chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Morris McMaster and Bro. Larry Thomas officiating.

Burial was at Hunter Cove Cemetery in Allons.

Mr. Cole died Friday, August 1 at Overton County Nursing Home. He served as a volunteer missionary at Cedar Lake Camp, Lake Camp, and Bliss Summitt Bible Camp. He helped with funerals with the local VFW, was a life member of VFW, life member of the American Legion, and life member of the American Disabled Veterans.

Born December 21, 1928, in Randolph, NY, he was the son of the late Rex T. Cole and Cathryn Meacham Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cole of Allons; 3 sons, John L. Cole of Cooperstown, NY, Robert M. Cole of Reading, PA, and James M. Cole of Cookeville; a daughter, Cathryn R. Cole of Tacoma, WA; a sister, Peggy Ann Taylor of Gowanda, NY; and 8 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Cole, Robert Cole, James Cole, Deston Ortega, Frank Pigg, and James Naasz.

Sammy Evans


Funeral services for Mr. Sammy B. Evans, 65, of Marietta, GA, were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008, from Johnson Ferry Baptist Church with Rev. Art Wilder officiating.

Burial was at Arlington Memorial Park.

Mr. Evans died Sunday, August 3. He was a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and was an active ALTA player for many years. Mr. Evans was a loving husband, father, brother and “Pops” to five grandchildren.
Born August 18, 1942 in Alpine, TN, he was son to the late Quitman and Josie Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Evans; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and wife Nicole of Woodstock, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and husband Ed Ballington of Woodstock, GA; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva and husband Tommy Jordan of Brandon, MS , and Johnnie Ruth and husband Earl Slaven of LaVergne, TN; and 5 grandchildren, Mandy Ballington, Betsy Ballington, Sam Ballington, Spencer Evans, and Jackson Evans.

Mable Springs
Funeral services for Miss Mable Springs, 90, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Gist officiating.

Burial was at Cash Cemetery.

Miss Mable Springs died Friday, Aug. 8 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and member of Greater Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.

Born June 18, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Roberts) Springs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Lou Springs, and Alice Springs.
Survivors include first cousins, Howard and Dewitt Roberts of Dayton, OH, Ruby Ann Roberts, Mary Wester, Carrie Roberts all of Cookeville, and Jean Strode of McMinnville; and special cousin Scottie Roberts.

Pallbearers were family members.
