Rex Cole Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Rex Cole Jr., 79, of Allons, were conducted today, Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10 a.m., from the Chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Morris McMaster and Bro. Larry Thomas officiating.

Burial was at Hunter Cove Cemetery in Allons.

Mr. Cole died Friday, August 1 at Overton County Nursing Home.

Born December 21, 1928, in Randolph, NY, he was the son of the late Rex T. Cole and Cathryn Meacham Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cole of Allons; 3 sons, John L. Cole of Cooperstown, NY, Robert M. Cole of Reading, PA, and James M. Cole of Cookeville; a daughter, Cathryn R. Cole of Tacoma, WA; a sister, Peggy Ann Taylor of Gowanda, NY; and 8 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Cole, Robert Cole, James Cole, Deston Ortega, Frank Pigg, and James Naasz.

Claude Eldridge
Funeral services for Mr. Claude Eldridge, 91, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Darrel Phillips and Rev. Eugene McCowan officiating.

Burial was at Whittaker Cemetery.

Mr. Eldridge died Monday, August 4 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. He was a member of Union B. Freewill Baptist Church, and was retired from Monterey Headstart.

Born August 8, 1916 in Overton County, he was the son of the late William and Dovie (Swallows) Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dumie (Phillips) Eldridge; 2 brothers, Milton Eldridge and Denton Eldridge; 2 daughters, Jewel (Eldridge) Anderson and infant daughter Mazel Eldridge; and 3 sisters, Bertha Green, Ethel Eldridge, and Clarcie Green.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Willie Mae and Ag Phillips of Monterey; 5 grandchildren, Darrel Phillips, Glenda Bilbrey, Rita Nugent, Karen Latham, and Janice Anderson; a brother, Sherman Eldridge of Anderson, IN; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

Arlin “Boots” Pierce
Funeral services for Mr. Arlin “Boots” Pierce, 81, of Monterey were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Singleton and Bro. Ken Mabry officiating.

Burial with full military honors by Veterans Honor Guard was at Ray Cemetery.

Mr. Pierce died Saturday, August 2 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. A retired auto assembler with General Motors, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Pierce was a charter member of Monterey VFW Post #6277, and a founding member of Veterans Honor Guard, having served at over 700 funerals. Additionally, he was a member of Livingston American Legion Post #4, and was a volunteer with Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 25, 1927, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Hugh and Manda (Smith) Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie (Verble) Pierce; 3 brothers, Herman Pierce, Rastus Pierce, and James Pierce; and 4 sisters, Desi Cook, Mabel Cook, Hattie Vaden, and Lena Maude Griggs;

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and wife Cindy Pierce of Monterey; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and husband Ken Mabry of Monterey; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and wife Reba Pierce of Baxter, and Sam and Edith Pierce of Virginia; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Mabry, Ian Mabry, Kendra and Al Shelton, Evan Mabry and fiancee Shawn Scantland, all of Cookeville, Jason and Audra Pierce of Fishers, IN, Troy and Jessie Pierce of Anderson, IN, Amber and Cory Liles of Anderson, IN, and Stacy Pierce of Frankton, IN; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Stella Mae Rowe


Graveside services for Mrs. Stella Mae Rowe, 77, were conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008.

Burial was at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Indiana.

Mrs. Rowe died Tuesday, July 29. She was an accoplished seamstress and worked at several textile companies.

Born August 14, 1930, she was daughter to the late John Thomas and Rosie Mae (Pryor) Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cortis Rowe; and a son, James E. Rowe.

Survivors include a daughter, Reita (Steve) Shilts; 3 brothers, JT Foster, Henry Foster, and Willie Ray Foster; 3 sisters, Laura Nivens, Gay Capps, and Lillie Ford; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN, 46278-6005.

Ray Teeple
Funeral services for Mr. Ray Donald Teeple, 68, of Sparta, were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 from Findlay Church of Christ with Dwight Fuqua officiating.

Burial was at Old Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Teeple died Tuesday, July 15 at his residence. He was a member of Findlay Church of Christ.

Born January 10, 1940, he was son to the late James P. and Nancy Hall Teeple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sherman Teeple and Carl Teeple; 3 sisters, Maggie Cantrell, Ruby Vinson, and Ava Teeple.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Spears) Teeple of Sparta; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and husband Jason Cantrell of Monterey; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and wife Ruth Teeple of Sparta, and James and wife Louella Teeple of Sparta; and 5 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law, Leta Burns of Sparta, Edwina Bilbrey of Ypsilanti, MI, Jean and husband Marion Bailey of College Grove, TN, Mary Ruth and husband Harold Merritt of Sarasota, FL, and Nell and husband Tom Russow of Osprey, FL.

Sherry Threet
Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Sherry (Brown) Threet, 56, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from Fellowship Cemetery in Allons with Bro. Terry Crabtree officiating.

Mrs. Threet died Friday, December 28, 2007 in Cookeville. She was co-owner of Corner Market in Cookeville for over 20 years.

The family chose cremation. Interment of the burial urn will take place prior to the service.

Born January 30, 1951, in Overton County, she was daughter to the late Van Buren and Sarah Ethel Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Choate.

Survivors include her former husband, Gary Lee Threet of Cookeville; a son, Gary Lynn Threet of Mount Juliet, TN; 2 brothers, Jack Brown of Allons, and Jerry (Sammy) Brown of Byrdstown; and a sister, Jeanie Davis of Allons.

Mary Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Magdalene Vaughn, 67, of Crawford, were conducted at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Kirby officiating.

Burial was at Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Vaughn died Monday, August 4 at her residence. She was a garment factory worker and a member of Vines Ridge Baptist Church.

Born April 30, 1941, in Crawford, she was daughter to the late Lloyd and Stella (Walker) Sisco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Vaughn; a brother, Dewey Sisco; and 2 sisters, Aldora Vaughn and Maudeen Garrett.

Survivors include a son, Kenny Vaughn of Cookeville; 2 daughters, Anna Ruth Ramsey of Crawford, and Donna Wright of Cookeville; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Wright, Kimberly Ramsey, Adrienne Wright, and Curtis Ramsey; and a great-grandchild, Kegan Matthew Wright.

Billy R. White

Mr. Billy R. White, 79, of Livingston, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

The family has chosen cremation, and will announce a memorial service at a later date.

Born August 7, 1928, in Hardin County, he was son to the late Earby and JoKate (Sidwell) White. He was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Veneshia (Commell) White of Livingston; a son, Richard Wade White of Monroe; a daughter, Veneshia Moles of Rickman; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Lucille Williams
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille (Fultz) Williams, 96, of Clarksville, IN, and formerly of Livingston, will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 7 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Burial will be at Overton County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Williams died Monday, August 4 at Riverview Village in Clarksville, IN. She was a cook at Parkway Restaurant in Livingston, and was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Born January 11, 1912, in Beechgrove, TN, she was the daughter of the late Sammi Clinton and Mattie Belle Todd Fultz. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Earnest Williams; 3 sons, Buck Williams, Dan Williams, and Don Williams; 5 brothers, Waufield Fultz, Woodfin Fultz, Sam Clinton Fultz, Jr., John Wesley Fultz, and Robert C. Fultz; a sister, Virginia Fultz Stacy; and a step-mother, Willie Orin Fultz.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Evans and wife Joann Fultz of Wartrace, IN; 2 sisters, Claytie (Fultz) Harvey of Houston, TX, and Margaret (Fultz) Kelly of Shelbyville, TN; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nephews and nieces.
