Charles Olath Bowman
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Olath Bowman, 77, of the Three Forks Community in Overton County, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home in Monterey with Bro. Paul Stringer and Bro. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Burial was with military honors at Speck Cemetery.

Mr. Bowman died Thursday, May 8 at Kindred Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of the Three Forks Community Missionary Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a past Master Mason of the Green Pond Masonic Lodge #703. He was also Chairman of the Republican Party of Overton County for several years.

Born July 6, 1930 in Overton County, he was the son of the late Cletis and Ada (Phillips) Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Bowman and Carlis Bowman.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Allen Bowman; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Jim and Doris Bowman of Livingston, Darrell and Deborah Farris of Jamestown, and Tim Farris of Crawford; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Monroe Helton of Livingston, Regina and James Gipson, Linda and Mark Burgess, and Anita and Tony Peek, all of Cookeville; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Bowman; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Emogean and Tim Perry, all of Ohio; and 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were friends and family members.

Carlos Whitaker Crabtree
Funeral services for Mr. Carlos Whitaker Crabtree, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating.

Burial was at Flatt Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Crabtree died Friday, May 9 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.

Born August 15, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Jerry Whitaker and Laura (Gore) Crabtree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sisters, Lucille Mullins of Sparta, and Alma Ward of Livingston; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Pallbearers were Bryan Crabtree, Austin Poston, Michael Poston, Mike Crabtree, Ronnie Burchfield, and Jason Crabtree.

Mae Ola Heard
Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Ola Heard of Macon, GA were conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary in Macon, with Mike Miles officiating.

Mrs. Heard died Tuesday, May 6. She was retired from the garment industry, where she worked in production and quality control. She was a member of North Macon Church of Christ, and did volunteer work at a food pantry in Macon.

Born in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Foister and Delia Stover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Cletis Stover, Sanford Stover, Bill Stover, Herbert Stover, and infant T.B. Stover.

Survivors include her husband, Joel H. Heard; a daughter, Delinda and husband, Ed Grisamore; three grandchildren, Ed Grisamore, Grant Grisamore, and Jake Grisamore, all of Macon; four sisters-in-law, Vonda Stover of Livingston, Gladys Stover of Cookeville, Hazel Stover of Indianapolis, IN, and Haley Heard of Campbellsville, KY; two nephews, Phillip Stover and Mark Stover, both of Indiana; two nieces, Marcia Johnson of Livingston, Sandy Reeder of Mooresville, IN; Ann Stover of Arizona, and several cousins and special friends, including Bobbie and Jim Sells, of Livingston.

Treva O. Howard
Ms. Treva O. Howard, 87, of Livingston, died Monday, May 5 at Masters Healthcare Center in Algood. She was a factory worker and attended the Church of God.

Born April 15, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James Marion and Mindy Belle (Sells) Winningham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include several nephews and nieces including Sam Coleman, Terry Lindsey, Judy Handy, Sylvia Dial, Gail Story, and others.

Bobbie Jewel Looper
Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Jewel Looper, 77, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Robert Yockey officiating.
Burial was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Looper died Sunday, May 4 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 29, 1930, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Vernia Smith of Livingston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Spencer Bass.

Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Looper of Rickman; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Terry Key of Cookeville, and Shelia McCulloch of Brentwood, TN; three grandchildren, Dustin Key, Erica Key, and Laura Bass; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Bass and Elizabeth Bass.

Pallbearers were Dustin Key, Lloyd Garrett, Kelly Ramsey, James Gentry, Johnny Phy, and Paul Bass.
