• Mrs. Mattie Garrett was in Livingston shopping Friday.

• Miss Ruth Garrett of Byrdstown visited her sister, Leta Garrett, and Mrs. J.R. Garrett Saturday.

• Mrs. Tramel Hinds visited Mrs. Mattie Garrett Monday afternoon.

• Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Carr have a new baby and have named her Betty Sue.

• Winstead Robbins of Wirmingham lost his home by fire Sunday.

• Mr. and Mrs. Tramel Hinds and children visited their relatives at Wirmingham Sunday afternoon.

• Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Garrett and Miss Leta Garrett visited Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Norris Sunday.

• Everyone seems to be plowing, trying to get their crops out while we are having pretty weather.

• Mr. and Mrs. O.H Qualls have a new baby boy.

Rites held Sunday for
Mrs. Elizabeth Howard, 87
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Hogan Howard. 87, widow of Baalam N. Howard, who died at her home in East Livingston, on Saturday, March 20, at 10:00 a.m., after a brief illness of pneumonia, were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, at the residence, by the Rev. Evie Tucker, assisted by the Rev. H.C. Geiger, pastor of the Baptist Church of Livingston, and the Rev. Ralph White, of Shelbyville. A.D. Smith of Livingston made a short talk. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Howard had lived in Livingston for the past thirty-seven years. She and her husband, the late B.N. Howard, moved to Livingston from Willow Grove, Clay County.
Mrs. Howard was one of a family of eleven children. Eleven years ago, all were living and the youngest was sixty years of age. Now only one brother is living, whose home is in Oklahoma.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A.J. Taylor and Mrs. Clark Myers, of Livingston; one son, Dr. William A. Howard, of Cookeville; one brother, George W. Hogan, of Manguum, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church for more than sixty years and was highly respected and widely known.
Active pallbearers at the funeral were: Baxter Smith, Douglas White, W.E. Delaney, Homer Stonecipher, Lester Holman, C.D. Mitchell, Edison Smith, and Benton Young.
