Ola Hargis
Funeral services for Mrs. Ola Hargis, 89, of Union B community of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Union B Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Phillips and Rev. Dewayne Whittaker officiating. Burial was in Campground Cemetery in Fentress County.

Mrs. Hargis died Sunday, June 10 at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Union B Church for more than 60 years.

Born November 28, 1917, in Wilder, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Wilson) Neely. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Hargis; a brother, R. B. Neely; and 4 sisters, Ruby Vaughn, Audrey Bilbrey, Nola Hargis, and Carlis England.

Survivors include a daughter, Paulean Hargis of Union B; and a sister, Laura Miller of Dunkirk, IN.

Mildred Jean Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Jean Harris, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rick Lewis officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris died Sunday, June 10 at her home. She was a factory worker for Perdue Farms.

Born June 5, 1936, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Vina (Riddle) Sells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Lee Harris; a son, Joe Michael Harris; a brother, Hacky Sells; and a sister, Estelle Shoemake.

Survivors include a son, Rex Harris of Livingston; a brother, James Edward “Bud” Sells of Allons; 3 sisters, Mable Ann Hummel of Monroe, Dot Hummel of Anderson, IN, and Dot Jones of Murfreesboro; 2 grandchildren, Timothy Lee Harris, and Damon Chuck Harris; and a great-grandchild, Damon Tyler Harris.

Pallbearers were Timmy Harris, Damon Harris, Anthony Good, Gary Shoemake, M.B. Hennel, and Willie Ray Hummel.

Elizabeth Hull
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Hull, 86, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Freddie Looper and Rev. Benjamin Hull officating. Burial was in Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Hull died Friday, June 8 at her son’s home in the Crossroads community. She was a homemaker and a member of Monterey Assembly of God.

Born November 29, 1920, in Brookton, TX, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Elizabeth (Lenoir) Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Hull; a brother, Buster
Wright; and a sister, Beatrice Galey.

Survivors include 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Roger and Pauline Hull, Johnny Hull, and Paul and Suzanne Hull, all of Monterey, and Edward and Jessie Hull of Cookeville; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Inez and Garner Padgett and Karen and Sam Looper, all of Monterey, and Meredith (Hull) Kraynak of Algood; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Edward Mulloy
Mr. Thomas Edward Mulloy, 67, of Livingston, died Monday, May 28 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family chose cremation.

Mr. Mulloy was a welder and enjoyed the great outdoors.

Born July 26, 1939, in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Thomas and Ethel Elizabeth (Hicks) Mulloy.

Survivors include Roxie Mulloy of Tahlequah, OK; a son, Thomas E. Mulloy Jr. of California; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle and Sammie Bilbrey of Livngston and Melanie McLeroy of Acworth, GA; a sister, Nancy Greene; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Bilbrey and his wife Carrie, Jeremy Bilbrey and his wife Dana, and Timothy Bilbrey, all of Livingston, and Patrick Mulloy of California, Aleia McLeroy, of Murfreesboro, and Jared McLeroy of Acworth; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Arnold Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Phillips, 68, of Celina, formerly of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, with Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial was in Welch Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips died Tuesday, June 5 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was retired from Avco Aerostructures in Nashville, was a veteran of the United States Army and of the Baptist faith.

Born December 13, 1938, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Jasper and Dora (Phipps) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Mitchell Phillips, Alfred Phillips, and Lonnie Phillips; and 2 sisters, Velma Phillips and Gladys Graves.

Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Randy Garrett of Monterey and Regina and Mike Roberts of Quebeck; a brother, Rev. David Phillips; 5 sisters, Shirley Whittaker and Thelma Buckner, both of Monterey, Georgia Mitchell of Pendelton, IN, Nancy Turner of Markleville, IN, and Bettye Redenbaugh of Anderson, IN; and 4 grandchildren, Jessica Garrett, Kristina Garrett, Matthew Roberts, and Ethan Roberts.

Ellen (McFeeters) Turnbull
Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen (McFeeters) Turnbull, 91, of Berea, KY, were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Union Church in Berea.

Mrs. Turnbull died Wednesday, June 6. She graduated summa cum laude from Geneva College and attended two years of medical school. She taught school in the Overton County school system, and was the last teacher at a one-room school in the Cravenstown community. She was a committed and vital Christian and member of Union Church in Berea, an advocate for peace, and an active community volunteer until her death.

Born in Egypt, she was the daugher of Milo C. McFeeters and Elma McFeeters, who were missionaries and teachers at Asyut College. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Frank J. Turnbull; a son, Paul F. Turnbull; and a sister, Ruth McFeeters.
Survivors include 3 sons, Dr. David M. Turnbull of Wrightsville Beach, NC; Circuit Judge John A. Turnbull of Livingston, and Dr. Joseph T. Turnbull of Marion, NC; 4 daughters, Margaret Sutters of Berea; Mary Ellen Johnston of Prattville, NC, Elma Jessen of Bloomington, IN, and a daughter, Jane Weatherford, of Richmond, KY; a foster son, Tae Sic Ro, of Youngstown, OH; a sister, Mary Frances Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC; 26 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
