Carlos Thurman Greenwood
Funeral services for Mr. Carlos Thurman Greenwood, 86, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Ruth Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Greenwood died Sunday, May 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a sawmill worker and a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ.

Born September 28, 1920, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John Preston and Louiza (Bilbrey) Greenwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Modenia Greenwood; 3 brothers, Gilbert Greenwood, J.P. Greenwood, and his twin brother, Carlie Greenwood; 4 sisters, Bessie Hargis, Virgie Langford, Bertha Stewart, and Beulah Hargis; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Denton.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mary Ann Denton of Livingston and Patricia McAlpin of Sevierville; a sister, Lola Belle Hawkins of Hilham; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Edna Greenwood of Livingston; and a special niece, Brenda Greenwood of Livingston.

Pallbearers were Gentry Linder, Jesse Linder, Roger Linder, James Greenwood, James Stewart, and Darrell Sidwell.

Honorary pallbearers were Toni Mitchell, Josh Mitcchell Jr. and Chance Linder.

Elsie (Bowman) Hotsinpiller
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie (Bowman) Hotsinpiller, 82, of Monterey, will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, May 23, 2007, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Covel and Rev. Billy Joe Hedgecough officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery in Hanging Limb.

Mrs. Hotsinpiller died Monday, May 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a factory worker at Botany 500 Shirt Factory in Livingston and a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.

Born June 6, 1924, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac M. and Edna Zion (Phillips) Dishman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Bowman; a brother, Roy Dishman; and a sister, Alice Lee Loftis.

Survivors include her husband, John Hotsinpiller of Monterey; 2 sons, Butch Bowman of Hanging Limb and Terry Bowman of Monterey; 2 daughters, Loretta Bullock of Cookeville and Cathie Hacker of Sparta; 6 stepchildren, Chris Williams of Port Austin, MI, Mary Hadidsaz and Tom Hotsinpiller, both of Cookeville, Paul Hotsinpiller of Knoxville, and Jim Hotsinpiller and Mark Hotsinpiller, both of Monterey; a brother, Letcher Dishman of Cookeville; a sister, Willie Mae Bowman of Monterey; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hotsinpiller’s grandsons served as pallbearers.

Glen Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. Glen Phillips, 62, of Allons, and formerly of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Hoover and Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial was in F.A. Norrod Cemetery in Hanging Limb.

Mr. Phillips died Tuesday, May 15 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a factory worker and a member of Mineral Springs First Baptist Church.

Born November 6, 1944, in Hanging Limb, he was the son of the late Horace and Lula Mae (Norrod) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 infant brothers and sisters; a sister, Maxine Johnson; 2 nephews, Dewayne Phillips and Freddie Johnson; and a brother-in-law Rev. Talmadge Phillips.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Tina Lynn Vanwinkle of Crossville and Joyce Elaine Tayes of Cookeville; a sister, Bonnie Phillips of Hanging Limb; 6 grandchildren, Sidney Vanwinkle, Shelby Vanwinkle, Sloan Vanwinkle, Skylar Vanwinkle, Kendall Tayes, and Isabella Tayes; a cousin, Charlene Phillips of Monterey; 2 nephews, Ronnie Phillips and his wife Justine and Donnie Phillips and his wife Donna, all of Allons; 2 nieces, Delene Pickering and her husband Dwayne of Greenville, TN, and Dealine Morton of Hanging Limb; 2 great-nephews; 4 great-nieces; and a lifelong friend, Deloy Bowman of Hanging Limb.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Phillips, Donnie Phillips, Deloy Bowman, Clyde Bowman, Claude Bowman, Lonnie Hoover Jr., Maurice Hoover, and Frank Jones.

Arnold Bowman served as honorary pallbearer.
