Officers pour out about 300 gallons of bootleg beer
after raid Saturday morning
Constable Virgil McAlpin and Claude Roberts made a raid on a still on Saturday morning, July 10, near the Standing Stone Road, two miles south of Hilham, and poured out about three hundred gallons of beer. No arrests were made.


John W. Creasy, 82, dies at his home on
Thursday of heart attack

John W. Creasy, 82, died at his home in Livingston on Thursday, July 8 at 6:00 a.m. after an illness of several months of a heart attack.

He was born and reared in Metcalf County, Ky., and moved to Overton County, near Monroe, in January, 1908, and moved to Livingston in 1921.
    
He had been a member of the Church of Christ for the past fifty years.
    
His wife, Ruthy Franklin Creasy, died eighteen years ago.
    
He is survived by three daughters, Miss Maude Creasy, Livingston, Mrs. Ann Pittman, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Mrs. Carrie Lee Whiteaker, Oil Dale, Calif.; four sons, A.C. Creasy of Summer Shade, Ky., R.R. Creasy, Christiana, Tenn., J.F. Creasy, Nashville, and John W. Creasy, Jr., Long Beach, Calif; eighteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
    
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Monroe, by Elder Curtis Franklin, with burial in the Monroe Cemetery.

Twelve Overton County boys are attending
4-H Club Camp this week

The following boys are attending the 4-H Club camp this week at the Middle Tennessee Experiment Station at Columbia. Nine of these twelve boys are presidents of the clubs here in the county.
    
The boys are: Bill Stonecipher, Kenneth Stephens, Charles Windle, Dorlit Smith, Terry Bilbrey, James Bilbrey, Clyde Warren, Ray Swallows, George Ogletree, Earl Story, Omer Clark, and Harold Clark.
    
These boys are with Wm. O. Sewell, county agent.
