LA honor students recently announced
Honor students of the 1937 graduating class at Livingston Academy were announced today by the principal, J.C. Taylor.
Winners are: Valedictorian, Jonnie Marie Averette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Averette, and Dick Mitchell, II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. D. Mitchell.
Class excercises have been set for May 21.
Services held for Mrs. Nancy Holt
Mrs. Nancy Holt, 79, widow of the late James H. Holt, died at her home in the Bethsaida community of the 11th district of Overton County on Tuesday, April 13, at 11:00 a.m., after a prolonged illness.
She was a church member and highly respected. Here maiden name was Nancy Livingston.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Milton Smith of Pickett County, Mrs. Vallie Sells, of Overton County, and Martha Holt of Los Angeles, California; and five sons, Mack Holt of Jamestown, Job Holt and Eden Holt of Overton County, William Holt of Greencastle, Indiana, and Harrison Holt of Fentress County.
Funeral services were held at Bethsaida Cemetery on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. by the Rev. J.S. Clayton, Pastor of the Methodist Church at McDonald’s Chapel. Burial was at Bethsaida.
Funeral services held for Julia Brown Hudson
Mrs. Julia Ann Brown Hudson, age 73 years-old, died on Thursday, April 8, at 4 a.m. at the home of her niece, Mrs. Porter Neal, on Mill Creek, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Brown. of the Concord community, of the Third District of Overton County.
