Mrs. Margaret Beaty
Dies of heart attack
Mrs. Margaret Beaty, 72, died suddenly of heart attack at the home of her son-in-law, Proctor P. Little, at Monroe, on Thursday, March 25. She had not complained and so far as was known by the family was in usual health. She never spoke after she was stricken. She was the widow of the late Joel Beaty, and a daughter of Marion Cope, who was killed at the battle of Saultville, Va., while serving as a Confederate Soldier, and Mrs. Mira Eoder Cope.
She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Proctor P. Little, of Monroe; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Owen of Arkansas; two brothers, Calvin and William Cope, residents of Texas.
Funeral services were conducted at the Beaty cemetery at Hayse Smith’s in the 11th District by the Rev. John A. Coleman, of the Methodist Church, on Saturday at one o’clock in the afternoon, with burial in that place.

The last rites were conducted on Saturday, March 27, at one o’clock at the Davis cemetery at Three Forks, in the Ninth District, for Att Looper, aged 75 years, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home near Tyler’s Point, with the Rev. George McCowan, Baptist minister, officiating. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and was highly respected.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Tennie Boman Looper; three daughters, Mrs. Lonzie Wilson, Mrs. Herschel Phillips, and Mrs. William Phillips; six sons, Willie Joe, Darlin, Houston, and Fletcher Looper, all of Overton county; Goolsby Thomas Looper of Rocky River, Warren county; and Harmon Looper of Akron, Ohio; and a brother, Anderson Looper of Overton county.
