Funeral services held for Mrs. Susan F. Norris

Mrs. Susan Ellen Ferrill Norris, age 63, wife of James Norris, of the Tenth District of Overton County, died at her home in the West Fork community on Wednesday, December 23, at 6 a.m. after a lingering illness.

She had been a member of the Baptist Church for more than forty years, and was widely known and highly respected.

She was a daughter of the late David D. Ferrill and Malinda Grissum Ferrill, and was born and reared in the community of her death.

Besides her husband, she is survived by six children, as follows: three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Carr, of Livingston, Mrs. Clester Savage, of Allons, and Miss Mira Norris, of Alpine; three sons, Dewey, Alvin, and Sherlie Norris, of Alpine; one sister, Mrs. John M. Brown, of Allons; four brothers, Robert Lee Ferrill, of Jamestown, the Rev. Thomas E. Ferrill, and J. Benton Ferrill, of Alpine, and John S. Ferrill, of Livingston.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. E.M. Smith, of the Baptist Church, at Brown's Chapel on Thursday, December 24, at 10 a.m. with burial in the Helter graveyard.

 

Funeral services held for Mr. Floyd Ledbetter
Funeral services were held for Floyd Ledbetter, 52, a farmer of Cowan for some twenty years, having lived in Overton County, near Livingston, for more than thirty years. He died of pneumonia on Sunday night, Jan. 3, at his home after a brief illness. Elder Albert V. Watkins was in charge of the funeral on Monday afternoon at the Ledbetter Graveyard in the Collins Cove.

He was a son of John C. Ledbetter and the late Mrs. Nettie Hammock Ledbetter. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louvena Bilbrey and six children; three sisters, Mrs. Dona Gore, of Algood, Mrs. Lou Ramsey and Mrs. Bessie Morgan, of Twinton, Overton County; and five brothers, Ras H., and Luther Ledbetter, of Livingston, Charlie Ledbetter, of Davidson, and Thomas Ledbetter, of Cowan, and his father. Burial was at the Ledbetter Graveyard.
