Overton County's Jr. Outlaws point skyward to show they are Number One in the Junior Division of Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference after winning the championship game 19-0 over Monterey on Saturday, Nov. 4.

 

Overton County's Jr. Outlaws finished an undefeated 9-0 season with a 19-0 win over Monterey in the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference championship game on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Soccer players named All-District

Overton County's Jr. Lady Wildcats were rewarded for their third consecutive undefeated season with 5 All-District soccer selections and 2 Honorable Mentions. Named to the All-District Team are Lisa Cook, Kathryn Nigro, Mercer Coleman, Kelsey Webb, and Stormy Nigro. Honorable Mention was awarded to fifth graders Savannah Gillentine and Barbara Nigro. The Jr. Lady Wildcats had a record-breaking offensive year, outscoring their opponents 60-16 in 14 games. Their offensive firepower was recognized as 4 of the 5 All-District selections, representing the entire starting Jr. Lady Wildcats midfield, and the 2 Honorable Mention selections are much used forwards. Coach Tony Nigro said, "All the girls played together extremely well this season. All the players are considered MVP in my eyes." The coach acknowledged the goalkeeper, Alaura Miranda, for her outstanding performance this season, and also Jeff Gillentine, assistant coach, and Phil Marshall for their endless hours of service.

 

Farmer Racing concludes '06 campaign

April Farmer and her #14 team have recently decided to conclude their 2006 racing season.

Her Livingston-based Dirt Late Model competed in a plethora of events during the 2006 campaign, including races in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, and Kentucky. Along with the highlight of racing at the Eldora (OH) Speedway in the $100,000 to win "Dream 100" ' and the $39,000 to win "World 100" April also posted the following highlights:

3rd in Regular Show at the Checkered Flag (TN) Speedway on May 13;

2nd in Non-Qualifiers Event for "Dream 100" at the Eldora (OH) Speedway on June 9;

6th in $3,000 to win Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Event at the Sugar Creek (GA) Raceway;

9th in $3,000 to win Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Event at the Tri-County (NC) Race Track;

Made the starting field for $5,000 to win "Coca-Cola Classic" at the North Georgia Speedway'.

Livingston Academy had 13 Special Olympics athletes to participate in the Special Olympics Bowling Tournament held in Cookeville on October 5. They brought home several ribbons including 1 blue, 6 red, 2 yellow, and 3 white.
