Obituaries
Dean Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mrs. Dean Ledbetter, 91, of Livingston, were
conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, from the chapel of
Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Don Maxson officiating.
Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ledbetter died Sunday, Dec. 17 at Overton County Nursing Home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Monroe Christian Church.
Born February 20, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter
of the late Terry and Rebecca (Garrett) Norris. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie C. Ledbetter,
4 brothers, Jim Norris, Newel Norris, Hershel Norris, and Tommy
Norris; and a sister, Lela White.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Hilman and
Mary Ruth Ledbetter of Livingston; 2 daughters and a son-in-law,
Sue Heady and Clarice and James Bass, all of Livingston; 4 grandchildren,
Sherry Munn, Kimberly Dawn Ledbetter, Gary Dwight Ledbetter, and
Tammy Michelle Keylon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Haley Munn and
Jacob Pennington.
Pallbearers were Jerry Garrett, Joe Garrett, Danny Garrett, Jerry
White, Larry Norris, and Gary Dwight Ledbetter.

Charles Allen Eldridge
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Allen Eldridge, 40, of Atlanta,
GA, formerly of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec.
21, 2006, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Damon
Corley officiating.
Burial was in Coffee Cemetery.
Mr. Eldridge died Sunday, Dec. 17 at his home. A psychologist for
the Cobb County, GA, School System, he earned his AAS degree in
criminal justice, his bachelor of science degree in sociology, and
his master of arts degree in educational psychology and counselor
education. He was a member of Meridian Sun Lodge 26 and of the Baptist
faith.
Born November 30, 1966, in Putnam County, he was the son of Charles
L. and Ottie (Morrow) Eldridge of Livingston.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include 2 sisters and a
brother-in-law, Patricia Hopper of Livingston and Debra and Earl
Day of Allons; a nephew, Robert Day and his wife, Lisa; a niece,
Shawna Day; and numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Willie Beaty, Shawn Wells, Brad Summers, Dale
Day, Earl Day, Kevin Burchett, and Robert Day.

John Roy Lawson Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. John Roy Lawson Jr., 47, of Gainesboro,
were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, from the chapel
of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Duane "Bud" Hargis
and Bro. Charlie McCoy officiating.
Burial was in Lawson Cemetery in Jackson County.
Mr. Lawson died Saturday, Dec. 16 at University Hospital in Cincinnati,
OH.
Born August 18, 1959, in Wolf County, KY, he was the son of the
late John Roy Sr. and Berth (Ingram) Lawson. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ellis.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathleen (Brown) Lawson; a son,
John Roy Lawson III of Gainesboro; 5 daughters and 3 sons-in-law,
Lois Mae and Nickolas Rameriez, Bertha Louis Lawson and Timothy
Scott Murphy Sr., and Amanda Marie Lawson, all of Gainesboro, Amber
John and Brian Smith of Mississippi, and Sandy Sue Lawson of Louisiana;
3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Wanda and John Hale, Ruby and Stanley
Watkins, and Jo Johnson, all of Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; and
a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, family,
and friends.
Pallbearers were Mac Johnson, Travis Johnson, Stanley Watson, John
Hale, Edward Johnson, John Ellis, John Lawson, and James Ellis.
Special care was provided by Rickman-Hall Funeral Home.
Walter Harold "Red" Savage
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Harold "Red" Savage, 73,
of Indianapolis, IN, were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec.
21, 2006, from the chapel of G.H. Herrmann S. East Street Funeral
Home. Burial was in New Crown Cemetery.
Mr. Savage died Monday, Dec. 18. He was a truck mechanic all of
his life and owned and operated Savage Garage, retiring in 2002.
He was the son of the late Walter P. and Elizabeth (Beason) Savage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter,
Tammy Savage; and 3 brothers, Royce Savage, Gene Savage, and Argil
Savage.
Survivors include his wife, Florence C. (McWhirter) Savage, whom
he married September 3, 1984; 3 sons, Harold Savage and Randy Savage,
both of Indianapolis, and Danny Savage of North Carolina; 3 daughters,
Rebecca Newhausel, Kim Cole, and Francine Savage, all of Indianapolis;
a step-daughter, Lori Hess of Indianapolis; 2 brothers, Marvin Savage
of Elwood, IN, and Roger Savage of Indianapolis; 3 sisters, Imadean
Rhoades of Nashville and Lou Neal Wilburn and Dulene Hummel, both
of Allons; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Lucille Mary Shank
Memorial services for Mrs. Lucille Mary Shank, 76, of Center Line,
MI, were conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, from the chapel
of Rudy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shank died Monday, Dec. 11 at her home. She was a homemaker,
a licensed hairdresser, and was known as an artist, working with
oils and acrylics and specializing in landscapes. She enjoyed gardening,
cooking, and baking,
She was born February 9, 1930, in Detroit, MI. She was preceded
in death by her first husband, Joseph William Varga in 1956; her
second husband, Stanley William Shank in 2002; and 2 brothers, Marcel
Godard and Robert Godard.
Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Sheila
Shank of Marion, IN, and Stephen Shank of Lebanon, OR; 6 daughters
and 4 sons-in-law, Lauren and Neil Sweeney and Anita and Tim Holland,
all of Livingston, Katherine and Gregory Campbell and Tricia Christo,
all of Center Line, Lisa McFarlane of Flint, MI, and Janet and Sandro
Silvestri of Sterling Heights, MI; 2 sisters-in-law, Margaret Godard
of Saginaw, MI, and Sylvia Godard of Harper Woods, MI; 16 grandchildren;
17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Clois "Rooney" Staggs
Private funeral services were planned for Mr. Clois "Rooney"
Staggs, 76, of Spring City, formerly of Overton County.
Mr. Staggs died Friday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Rhea County Hospital
in Dayton. He was a carpenter and brick mason.
Born August 1, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late
Herman and Zora (Abbott) Staggs. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Estel Staggs, Paskal Staggs,
Walter Staggs, Lester Staggs, and Delbert Staggs; 2 sisters, Lexie
Crabtree and Velma Holman; and 2 grandsons, Jackie Staggs and Greg
Staggs.
Survivors include 3 sons, Mike Staggs and Freddie Staggs, both
of Crossville, and Ed Staggs of Lowes Gap; 2 daughters, JoAnn Ramsey
of Crossville and Pam Webster of Nashville; a sister, Stella Pennington
of Livingston; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
