Police to be out in force Halloween

In an effort to reduce the incidents of vandalism and egg-throwing, the officers of Livingston Police Department will be out in force this Halloween.

Police Chief Roger Phillips warned, "Anyone found throwing eggs or other material at vehicles or pedestrians will be arrested and can face charges of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor with up to 30 days in jail and up to a $50 fine; vandalism, a Class A misdemeanor with up to 11 months and 29 days in jail and up to a $2,500 fine; and/or criminal littering, a Class B misdemeanor with up to 6 months in jail and up to a $500 fine."

Any vehicle involved in a throwing incident, in which the driver is arrested, will be towed at the owner's expense, according to Chief Phillips.

Parents will be held responsible for damages committed by their children up to $10,000.

Anyone under the age of 18 found throwing eggs or other materials at vehicles or pedestrians will be charged with the offense in juvenile court.

"Halloween is a time we hope our youngsters can enjoy," Chief Phillips said. "Working together, we can ensure it to be a safe and fun time.

"Just please remember that what is usually meant as a harmless prank can turn into someone else's tragedy very quickly."

Corrected info given on missing child

The mother of 7 year-old Adam Lee Prater has given Overton County News corrected information on last week's front page report about the missing child.

Melody Prater said the father's truck is not an Ford F-350 as stated in the TBI missing child report. She told OCN last week that the truck is a Dodge 3500. The rest of the truck description is as follows: white 4x4 crew cab with a diamond plated fuel tank in the bed.

Also, the TBI Missing Children Unit telephone number published in last week's article is no longer in service. The telephone number for the TBI Missing Children Unit is (615) 744-4064.

According to the report, Adam was last seen by his mother while living in Deming, NM, on November 5, 2005. Adam was allegedly picked up by his step-mother, Gloria Prater, who did not return him.

The report states, "On August 15, 2006, Melody was awarded custody, along with an order for Larry and Gloria Prater to return the child to her in Comanche, OK, which they did not do. The order was granted in Overton County, TN."

When Adam was abducted, he was around 4 feet tall, weighed approximately 50 pounds, and was missing a front tooth. He has brown hair, brown eyes, a tanned complexion, and is thin in build. Distinctive characteristics include a scar inside his upper lip and upper gum.

Adam's interests include fishing, baseball, and karate.

Adam's father, Larry Gene Prater Jr., is described as a white 43 year-old male, 5'10" in stature, 190 pounds, with brown eyes and a dark complexion.
