Propane
gas accumulation cancels court
By ROBERT FORSMAN, OCN court reporter
Overton County General Sessions Court was cancelled Thursday, May
25 because of a reported accumulation of propane gas in the Circuit
Court Clerk's section of Overton County Justice Center.
The gas buildup was reportedly the result of a buffer
used by a cleaning crew after office hours May 24.
When Circuit Court Clerk Johnny Brown and his staff
came to work the following day, the odor of propane was strong.
Livingston Fire Department measured the degree of
propane and determined it to be at a dangerous level, according
to reports.
The Circuit Court Clerk's portion of the Justice Center
was evacuated, resulting in the cancellation of court.
Brown and his staff returned to work after the fire
department determined it was safe to do so.
All cases on the General Sessions docket were rescheduled
for Thursday, June 1.
