Scouts cookie shipment has arrived

Leah Thomas/OCN staff
Girl Scouts Amy Thomas, left, and Madison Carter, along with
MadisonŐs mom, Julie Carter, get cases of cookies ready for distribution.
Berkline again volunteered use of its facility until the cookies
could be unloaded off the truck, sorted, and picked up by individual
Scouts. A total of 564 cases, or 6,768 boxes, came on the truck.
The Girl Scouts have expressed appreciation to everyone who has
bought cookies so far. Cookies may be purchased from any local Girl
Scout or by calling Jo Little at (931) 823-2335.

Snow
sprinkles hills of Upper Cumberland

Becky Oliver/OCN staff
Snow began to fall across Middle Tennessee on Wednesday night,
Feb. 8 then took a break until Friday, when a couple inches accumulated
through most of the Upper Cumberland but much more in the higher
elevations such as Monterey. Sledders and snowman builders made
do with what they got over the weekend until it began melting as
temperatures started to rise slightly. Then late Sunday night and
into the early hours of Monday morning, new snow came and stuck
enough to call off school and cause some minor complications for
drivers on their way to work.
