November 7, 1936 to November 13, 1936

William Sullivan, farmer, died Tuesday at home William Sullivan, 51, farmer of the Cedar Grove community of the Fourth District of Overton County, died at his home on Tuesday, November 10th, at 4 p.m. after a lingering illness.

He was a son of the late Ambrose and Lee Ann Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cordelia Burgess Sullivan; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Bilbrey and Mrs. Archie Staggs of Allons; two sons, Haskell Sulivan of Akron, OH, and Leslie Sullivan of Allons; and two sisters, Mrs. Ben Dulworth of Oakley and Mrs. Bill Conner of TaylorÕs Cross Roads.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday.

 

Hammons, Oakley wedding held November 6th
Mrs. Sarah E. Hammons and Shirley Oakley, poplar youngsters of the Oak Hill community, were quietly married in the office of the County Clerk in Livingston on Friday, November 6th, with Esquire M.J. Christian officiating.

The bride is the daughter of George Hammons, a reputable farmer of the Fifth District. The groom is the son of George Oakley, a farmer of the Fifth District.

 

Mrs. Julia Ann Terry celebrates 86th birthday
The 86th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Julia Ann Terry Cook was celebrated Sunday, November 8th, at the Christian Church in Allons. The devotional was conducted by Elder Millard Gibbons, of Hilham, and addresses were made by Judge L.D. Bohannon and Alfred K. Lea, both of Livingston. A bountiful dinner was then served to about two hundred guests.

The near relatives of Mrs. Cook present were: two sons, W.A. Cook and family and W.B. Cook and family; one daughter, Mrs. Kate Bilbrey and family and one sister, Mrs. Elretta Lynn.

Other relatives present were: Alonzo Burgess, Mrs. Myrtie Miller, Mrs. Willie Geer, Elijah Burgess of White County, Lewis Langford and family, William Buford and family of Timothy, Mr. and Mrs. Barlow Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Holloman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mitchell, Dr. and Mrs. J.P. Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Terry, Mrs. Ova Owens, Jesse Owens, Mr. and Mrs. U.L. Lynn and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murphy and familiy, all of Cookeville; Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Mitchell and family, J.R. Mitchell and family, J.T. Mitchell and family, Mrs. Lousetta Dale, Miss Florence and John Dillon, all of Livingston, Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Ward and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Wheat of Hilham, and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cope, and Mr. and Mrs. Vaden Cope and family of Allons.
