Marriage Licenses issued during July
The following marriage licenses were issued in July:

Thomas Vaughn and Mattie Phillips; Henry Franklin and Ila Maxwell; Pate Pitts and Ella Harris; Zedric Copeland and Frankie Cantrell; Marvie B. Brown and Tissie May White; Howard Mullins and Thelma Gladys Smith; Deloy Collins and Laura Brown; Bill Rose and Reise Winningham; Lucian Copeland and Imogene White; Howard Jones and Odell Clark, Will Abbott and Edna Noe; Dewey Threet and Levelle Winningham; Martin Chilton and Ezna Glascock; Ezra Bowman and Pauline Clark; Gordon Gore and Headith Hunter; Alton Barnes and Gyba Norris; I.V. Stover and Velma Thomas; Vernal Krantz and Virgie Norris; Benton Bilbrey and Ola Phillips; Porter Phillips and Lee Roberts; and Howard Bean and Gertrude Smith.

Overton County's high school population increased over the 10 year period from 1926 through 1935 from 205 to 498 average daily attendance.

C.C. Gore was elected District Representative for Overton County, defeating Bob Poston by a vote of 1,368 to 601 or a majority of 767, with nine precints missing.

Mrs. A.B. Qualls was re-elected according to a report today by a majority of about 200. However, the nine precincts might change the majority. Her opponent was Clay Bower.

In the Sheriff's race the incumbent, P.H. Windle, was elected by a majority of 735 over W.C. Smith. Mayor B.H. Hunt was re-elected by the small majority of 17, the vote being 271 against 254 for E. Douglas White.

The same aldermen were re-elected.

The following were elected on the Highway Commission: Leslie Willeford, M.C. Carr and D.C. Padgett.

Elected as members of the Board of Education were: M.A. Hardy, A.V. Watkins, B.H. Clark, T.B. Daniels, Walter Looper, Maurice Smith, and L.V. Cope. George Bertram, with nine precincts out in Overton County and not counting Fentress, seemed to be in the lead by a small majority. His opponent, Albert Hogue, however is optimistic concerning the outome.

The following Justices of the Peace were elected: First District - Z.M. Wilmoth, J.B. Hastings; Second District - D.C. Reed, W.C. Crawford, Jr.; Third District - S.L. Holman, W.C. Hawkins, J.P. Maxwell; Fourth District - Sol Bilbrey, T.L. Chilton; Fifth District - Carson Phillips, H.M. Harris; Sixth District - Milton Christian, E.B. Ogletree, Luther McCormick, Livingston, Artie Hodges; Seventh District - L.W. Stover, T.S. Allred; Eighth District - T.A. Copeland and J.H. Officer; Ninth District - George M. Phillips, J.H. Bowman; Tenth District - J.L. Allred, M.R. Robbins; Eleventh District - A.H. White, Procter Little, and S.A. Robbins; Twelfth District - L.F. Davis, I.B.. Hunter, R.L. Holt.
