Overton County's oldest citizen dies

Funeral rites were held on Monday, June 29, at 11 a.m., for Mrs. Ann Moredock Savage, aged 96 years, at Fellowship church, in the Seventh District of Overton County, by the Rev. Evie Tucker of the Baptist Church. She died Sunday afternoon, at her home at Oakley.

Mrs. Savage was the widow of the late Milton Savage and was the oldest person in Overton County, and was widely and most favorably known. She had been a member of the M.E. Church, South, for many years. Notwithstanding her advanced age she had been in her usual health until a few days ago.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Pierce, of Oakley; and two sons, Herbert Savage of Akron, Ohio, and William Savage, of Clay County.

Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery.

Robert Eldridge, age 5, dies of pneumonia
Robert Eldridge, age 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Eldridge, former residents of Livingston, now of Goodlettesville, died of pneumonia at his home on Monday.

Funeral services were held this morning at Mt. Gilead by the Rev. Benton Smith, with burial in the cemetery there.

Robert, besides his parents, is survived by one brother and one sister.

Lewis - Brown wedding to be held
A wedding of interest to their many friends was that of Harlen Lewis and Miss Ethel Brown which was quietly solemnized on Sunday, June 28, at Walnut Grove, with the Rev. Albert Watkins officiating with only a few close friends witnessing the ceremony.

The bride is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Brown. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Com Lewis.

The couple will be at home at Mrs. Amy Chilton's, where they have rooms.

Mrs. Hankins entertains at Zollicoffer Lake
Mrs. Millard Hankins entertained the Covered Bowl Club at Zollicoffer Lake on last Thursday evening. Contract bridge was played at two tables.

Members present were Mesdames Benton Young, Ted Smith, Bedford McDonald, Neil Fleming, Tom Windham, and Willard Maynord.

Mrs. Robert Hankins was a guest.
