Cha Cha Bridge Club Held Meeting Thursday
Mrs. Ruth Lee Mitchell was hostess to the Cha Cha Bridge Club Thursday
evening at her home on East Main Street. A delicious, four-course
dinner was served.
Seated at the table with the hostess were Miss Agness Knight,
Mrs. Albert L. Dean, Mrs. E.H. Hamilton, Miss Udine Qualls, Miss
Rose Hart Dale, Miss Margaret Miller, and Miss Allie Maynard.
The new year idea was carried out in the place cards and tallies.
At the conclusion of the meal, contract was played at two tables.
Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Hamilton and Miss Maynard.
Overton Countian Dies In California
News has been received here of the death of Elmer Crawford,
30, who died in Ventura, California, Tuesday night, January 14.
He was born and reared in the Second District of Overton county,
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William C. Crawford, and left for
the west some fifteen years ago.
His body will be brought back to his home county for burial, which
will be in Crawford cemetery, near Windle.
He is survived by his wife, three brothers, Asa Crawford, of Livingston,
Esquire W.G. Crawford, of near Windle, and Jessie Crawford, of California:
and three sisters, Mrs. Elise Masters of Evansville, Indiana, Mrs.
Tracy McCormick, and Mrs. Frank Pangle, of Overton County.
Prof. J.C. Taylor was in Nashville last week-end to attend the
teachers' meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Fate Carlock visited Mr. and Mrs. Ridley Mullins at
Alpine recently.
Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Deck spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Bilbrey,
near Okolona.
Miss Gustie Smith, of Gadsville, Tenn., visited Miss Blanche Hinds
on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Clark and daughters visited Mrs. Luther Qualls
Saturday.
