Fifth Grade -Lucille Evans, A.R. Ward, and Katherine McDonald.
Sixth Grade -Ray Halfacre, Bill Stonecipher, Roland Almonrode,
Avis Lee Halsell, Nora Ana Hodges, and Sarah Qualls.

RESPECTED MAN DIES AT NETHERLAND
Andy Fifer was stricken suddenly with paralysis and died at his
home near Netherland, Friday, where he had spent many years of his
life having been born in White County.
He was 84 years of age and by his integrity and industry had during
his long life exhibited an enviable character which received the
confidence and respect of all people with whom he had become acquainted
and had had dealings and for whom he had worked.
For thirty-three years prior to his death he had been a member
of the Methodist Church and was a regular attendant.

H.E. Swallows, county court clerk, issued the following marriage
licenses during December:

Fred Turner and Miss Bertha Richardson,
Roy Jones and Miss Gladys Steppe,
and Carlton Nichols and Miss Winifred Maynord.
The United States Supreme Court, in a recent decision, upholds
the right of the University of California, a land-grant college,
to require military training, and to deny admission to students
refusing to comply. The Court says it is the duty of every citizen
"to support and defend government against all enemies".
