ARNIE BETHEL COPELAND
Funeral services for Mr. Arnie Bethel Copeland, 96, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery with Bro. Terry Crabtree officiating.

Mr. Copeland died Monday, March 15 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. He worked with the Sunshine Biscuit Company for 17 years.

Born February 12, 1908, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Albert and Ollie (Robbins) Copeland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Conva L. (Smith) Copeland; a daughter, Christine Robbins; and a son, Harley Copeland.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie B. Copeland of Livingston; four sons, Kelly Copeland and Ray Copeland, both of Tipp City, OH; Roy Copeland of Dayton, and Arnie Copeland Jr. of Livingston; two daughters, Marie Danner of Tipp City and Nellie Miller of Riverside, OH; two sisters, Clarice Robbins of Trotwood, OH, and Clara Beaty of Alpine; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

HOMER HARGIS
Funeral services for Mr. Homer Hargis, 78, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial was in Phillips Cemetery with Rev. Richard Rollins and Rev. Billy Hedgecough officiating.

Mr. Hargis died Friday, March 19 at his home. He was a retired factory worker and a member of Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church.

Born July 25, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of Rubin Hargis of Algood and the late Bertha (Sisco) Hargis. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Hargis and Clyde Hargis; and a sister, Pauline Reed.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife of 53 years, Gearldine (Shephard) Hargis of Hanging Limb; two daughters, Diane Shouse and her husband, Donnie, of Monterey, and Donna Baker and her husband, Billy, of Hanging Limb; three sons, Dewayne Hargis and Jack Hargis, both of Hanging Limb, and Roger Hargis and his wife, Vickie, of Monterey; three brothers, Otis Hargis and his wife, Goldie, of Hanging Limb, Claude Hargis and his wife, Dean, of Cookeville, and Danny Hargis and his wife, Teresa, of Monterey; three sisters, Juanita Reed and her husband, Buster, of Hanging Limb, Geneva Simpson and her husband, Doug, of Wallings Creek, KY, and Betty Cleghorn and her husband, Donald, of Algood; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Brenda Bingham of Livingston.

RUTHIE LACK
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruthie Lack, 80, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Welch Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Phillips and Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating.

Mrs. Lack died Tuesday, March 16 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a retired factory worker and had owned and operated Lack's Clothing Store in Monterey. She was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church.

Born August 13, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sullivan and Ova (Phillips) England. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. "Buddy" Lack; two brothers, Artie Henry England, and Otis England; and a grandson, Daniel Norrod.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Norrod and his wife, Anna K., of Monterey, and Ronald Norrod and his wife, Brenda, of Grimsley; three sisters, Ruby Bowman, Evelyn Phillips and her husband, Carlen, and Jeanette Phillips and her husband, Amos, all of Monterey; five brothers, Talmadge England and his wife, Naoimi, and James England and his wife, Beatrice, all of Monterey, and Earl England and his wife, Charlene, Richard England and his wife, Elanor, and Junior England and his wife, Linda, all of Clarkrange; two grandsons, Michael Norrod and his wife, Leslie, of Elizabethton, and Steve Norrod and his wife, Dora, of Monterey; and two great grandchildren, Payton Norrod and Spence Norrod, both of Elizabethton.

ALFRED OREN SMITH
Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Oren Smith, 92, of Eastpointe, MI, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, from the chapel of Kaul Funeral Home in Clinton Township, MI.

Burial was in Clinton Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, March 16 at the Bon Secours Hospital.

Born October 21, 1911, in Manson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Smith; a son, David Smith; two brothers, Guy Smith and Bethel Smith; a sister, Reva Ledford; and a son-in-law, Harold Graham.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Graham; a sister, Opha Reynolds; 6 grandchildren, Steve Graham and his wife, Janet, Susan Brown and her husband, Wayne, Scott Graham and his wife, Judy, David Scott Smith, Debbie LaGrutta and her husband, Paul, and Jim Smith and his wife, Shawn; 13 great grandchildren, Erin, Trevor, Matthew, Kelly, Megan, Madison, Jienelle, Paul, Jeffrey, David, Daniel, Devin, and Delaney; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Smith.

IRENE (BROWN) WILLEFORD
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene (Brown) Willeford, 80, of Hilham, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Campground Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Harris and Rev. John Weaver officiating.

Mrs. Willeford died Sunday, March 14 at Bethesda Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Hilham United Methodist Church.

Born November 23, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Alva Brown and Lillie Mae (Masters) Brown Hembree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie Willeford; her step-father, A.B. "Ben" Hembree; two sisters, Doris Marie (Brown) Sink and Dorothy Hembree; and a brother, A.B. "Ben" Hembree Jr.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Willeford and his wife, Rhonda, of Hilham; a brother, Donald Hembree and his wife, Ann, of Cookeville; a sister, Jane Knight and her husband, David, of Decatur, AL; three grandsons, Wesley Willeford, John Willeford, and Robert Huckeby, all of Hilham; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tony Hembree, Jackie Hembree, Mark Hembree, David Sink, Dennie Sink, and Michael Danner.
