Members of 278th begin deployment
Teen dies in one-vehicle crash Tuesday

Firefighters with Rickman Volunteer Fire Department combat a
fire at the home of Johnny and Joan Phillips. The fire department
was dispatched to the Tommy Dodson Highway residence at 7:33 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 17 and quickly arrived to extinguish the blaze.
According to Ray Neal, of Rickman Volunteer Fire Department, the
home sustained damage to the kitchen, along with smoke and heat
damage to other areas. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Members
of 278th begin deployment
Members of the 278th Regimental Combat Team began
flying to Kuwait last weekend as the deployment of approximately
4,000 National Guardsmen to the Middle East began.
From Kuwait, the troops will go into Iraq, where they
are scheduled to spend a year in an area along Iraq's border with
Iran.

Teen
dies in one-vehicle crash Tuesday
An 18 year-old woman died in a one-vehicle crash on
Dry Hollow Road Tuesday morning, Nov. 23.
According to reports, Amber N. Jared, of Cookeville,
was driving a 2004 4-door Chevrolet east on Dry Hollow Road around
7 a.m. when the car left the road and struck a tree. Jared was ejected
from the vehicle.
Jimmy King and Clois Brown of Tennessee Highway Patrol
and Kevin Norris of CIRT, the critical incident resource team, investigated
the crash.
Dyer Funeral Home will be in charge of the funeral
arrangements.
