School Board chairman dies of heart attack

Blaze
destroys home on Jamestown Hwy
A call to 911 was made at approximately 11:48 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.
1 reporting a structure fire at 1416 Jamestown Highway. Members
of the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter
to find this home fully engulfed in flames. Members of Livingston
Fire Department responded to the call by request for replenishment
of water to fight the blaze. As well, members of Upper Cumberland
Electric Membership Corporation and Overton County Sheriff's Department
responded to the call. The structure was a complete loss, according
to authorities. The house had no electric meter and was apparently
vacant.

Board chairman dies of heart attack
School Board Chairman Jerry Glasscock, 59, died of
an apparent heart attack Friday, Sept. 3. He had reportedly been
working in his yard.
Glasscock was elected to represent the 1st District
on the Overton County Board of Education in August of 2000, taking
office on September 1 of that year.
On September 3, 2002, the School Board members elected
him to serve as chairman, and had reappointed him to the position
last year.

Thrasher missing since August 14
Livingston Police Department is investigating a missing
person report on Johnathan Thrasher of Livingston.
According to the report, Thrasher was last seen at
the Putnam County Fair on Saturday night, August 14. He was wearing
a white T-shirt with a logo on it.
Johnathan Thrasher is 21 years-old, 6'1" tall,
weighs approximately 180 lbs., and has brown eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information is urged to call Livingston
Police Department at (931) 823-6496.
Police Chief Roger Phillips stated, "Any and
all information received will be kept strictly confidential."
